Synagogue Building Collapse: LASUTH collect DNA samples to identify victims


The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, on Wednesday said it has concluded the collection of DNA samples for identification of the 115 victims of the recently collapsed guesthouse of the synagogue church.

Olawale Oke, The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, made this known at a news conference in Lagos.

Oke said, because 80% of the victims are South Africans, a competent laboratory has been selected in South Africa, to do the DNA.

"The post-motem for all of them have been concluded, the dental recognition process done, so we are just waiting for the results to be out." He said.

Tv/Radio personality, Toke Makinwa, who got married to her long time boo, Maje Ayida January 2014 has warned Nigerians to stop pressuring her into pregnancy.

She took to her twitter to talk about the pressure she's facing about her not being pregnant, many months after marriage.

Even my mother went as far as showing up at my house, late at night with the "we have talk" business."

Robber sentenced to death by hanging for allegedly stealing N9,000.


A Lagos High Court on Wednesday sentenced an armed robber to death by hanging, for stealing N9,000.

The convict, Onyekachi Abazu, was accused of robbing one Obioma Obiekwe of her N9,000 and a BMW car with number CM659JJJ, at gun point.

He committed the offence on June 13, 2007 at Gowon Estate, Ipaja, with other members of his gang, who are currently at large.

Abazu appeared in court before Justice Morenike Obadina and was charged with two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery under section 405(A), 402(A) of the criminal code laws of Lagos, 2003.

He had pleaded not guilty to the charges, which made the court to go through rigours of trial.

Delivery Judgement on Wednesday, Justice Obadua said the prosecution has proved it's case beyond reasonable doubt.
She found the defendant guilty as charged and thereby sentenced to death by hanging.

Shocking:Man murders 9-year-old son for bed-wetting


A Chinese man, Tang Minghua, 39,has killed his son for bed-wetting in China.

According to Phenxiong Police, th man got upset, took a machete, dragged the boy out of the house and forced him to  empty his bladder, but when the child refused, he used the machete on him.

He allegedly chopped off the dead boy's private parts before going back to bed.

Shocked neighbors, who spotted the bloody corpse lying outside the home, called the police.

The man who has been charged with murder, blamed his wife for the murder, saying she left him for another man.

Nigeria spends N796bn on fuelling of generators - Expert


An estimated sum of N796.4 billion is spent annually on fuel to power electric generators in Nigeria.

Godfrey Ogbemudia, Program Director, Community Research and Development Centre, disclosed this on Wednesday and said, this is due to inadequacy in power supply.

Speaking at the official launch of the Nigeria Renewable Energy for All Project in Benin, Ogbemudia explained that the figure represented Federal Government budget of N796.7 billion for the capital expenditure for the 36 states in the federation.

He lamented that in spite of the various Government policy to revive the energy sector, many 0nigerians still get as low as four hours of electricity supply per day, hence the need for Nigerians to embrace Solar as a viable source of power.

Breaking: Ogun State APC chairman Loses Wife In Auto Crash


The Ogun State All Progressive Congress (APC) chairman, Alhaji Adeniji, lost his wife yesterday in an auto crash, at Akihale area, Ogun State.

According to reports, Deaconess Rachael Kikelomo Adeniji, 58, was involved in the accident, when returning from the tour of Ifo Local Government yesterday.
The vehicle, a Toyota car, lost control and somersaulted several times  and she died on the spot.

The remains of the deceased, according to a family source will be buried in two weeks time.
