The was massive turn up Today at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos for the flag-off of PDP re-election campaign of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Nollywood topshots were there to lend their support to the president, PDP state governor's, former Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo amongst others.
The president also paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Oba of Lagos.

Buhari's "Scratch Card" Selling So Fast, N3m Worth Sold In 24hrs


A shortage of scratch card for donations to APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari's campaign has hit Adamawa.

According to reports, the first batch of N3 million worth of scratch cards that arrived the state capital, Yola last week sold out in less than 24 hours.

Chairman of Buhari's campaign organization in the state,  Alhaji Ibrahim Waziri confirmed this while addressing reporters in Yola on Thursday. He also said fresh supply is now on its way and will be available on Friday. And that as soon as the cards arrived, the organization will announce the designated selling points for interested members of the public.
The price of the card ranges from N100 to N10,000.


France Observes National Day Of Mourning To Honour Attack Victims


France observed a minute of silence Thursday, broken only by church bells in honor of the 12 people killed by Jihadists at a French publication.

In front of the offices of the Satrical magazine "Charlie Hebdo" where the Wednesday massacre took place, citizens have assembled all morning, leaving flowers as hundreds crowded the streets.

Meanwhile, search for the attackers is still on. One suspect turned himself in, Wednesday night and at least six others have been arrested. 

David Oyelowo Joins Oprah Winfrey To Grace The Cover Of Variety Magazine


Nigerian-born british actor, David Oyelowo is still getting a lot of Oscar buzz for his role as Martin Luther King Jr. in the history making film, Selma.
The film's director, Ava DuVernay, David Oyelowo, and Oprah Winfrey covers the February 2015 issue of VARIETY Magazine.

In the feature, the cast sat down with the magazine to discuss the film and today's racism issues. Ava dishes 
on the long road to making the film, the $20m
budget. David opened up about his role in the movie
and the connection he feels for MLK.

Incredible! Bride Leaves Groom Stranded At The Altar


A final year student of Federal Polytechnic, Oko in Anambra state, did the unthinkable when she left her groom stranded at the altar on their wedding day.
After several hours of waiting, the bride-to-be reportedly sent a message to the officiating priest , Rev. Father Lawrence Maduagwu that she was no longer interested and asked him to cancel the wedding.

The wedding was to take place on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Umuchu in Agwata LGA of Anambra state and invited guests were shocked when the bride, Ifunanya Igwebuike refused to show up to tie the knot with Ekene Uzoigwe.

Ifunanya said she couldn't go ahead with the wedding because, she was a graduate unlike her fiancé, who she claimed was a school drop-out.
After the wedding was canceled, it caused uproar in the church as guests who expressed shock, started trooping out.

Narating what happened Uzoigwe said he proposed to Ifunanya and she agreed on the condition that he would send her to school, which he agreed. He financed her education and they agreed to wed after
graduation.

He said he paid her bride price and even gave her parents N160,000 to prepare for the wedding, not including other arrangements and expenses incurred on the wedding and reception.

Uzoigwe said she didn't show any signs and did not not inform him about her backing out of the wedding until the he got to church, only for the priest to inform him and the guests that the wedding is cancelled.

"If she had informed me, I would not have made arrangements. We had already cooked food and bought drinks for the wedding,” he said.
Uzoigwe who is still in shock at what happened, said he did not quarrel with Ifunanya before the wedding day. When he contacted her parents, they said they would not force her and and he should come take back the money he gave them to prepare for the wedding.

Traffic In Lagos As President Jonathan Flag-Off Campaign


Thousands of PDP party members across South West converged on the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos this morning, for the flag-off of South-West re-election campaign of president Goodluck Jonathan/Namadi Sambo.
As expected, there's heavy traffic in some parts of Lagos. Traffic wardens are seen in some locations diverting motorists to take alternative routes.

The choice of Tafawa Balewa Square as venue, PDP sources said was because it hosted the ceremonies of Nigeria's Independent as well as being in Lagos where the largest number of voters reside in the country.

Nigerian Aruna Quadri Emerges World's Table Tennis Player Of The Year

Aruna Quadri made history, as he emerged the International Table Tennis Federation(ITTF) star player of the year 2014, at the award ceremony which held on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
He's the first African to win this award.

At the colorful award ceremony which held at the Armani Hotel, 26-year-old Quadri scooped two awards ahead of players from Asia and Europe to get a standing ovation from guests at the occasion.

An elated Quadri described his award as the best in his career, while acknowledging the support of his fans across the world.
        " This is the best day of my career and I want to thank the organizers for considering me for this. I also want to thank all my fans all over the world for their support because this is unbelievable for me and I promise to continue to work hard,”   

Sad! ex-Beauty Queen And Model, Esther Kanu Dies At 24


Former beauty queen and model, Esther Kanu passed away a few days into the New Year. 
She is said to have died on Wednesday, January 7, 2015.  According to reports, she suddenly slumped and was rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead.

24-year-old Esther won the "Queen of Aso" beauty pageant in 2012. In 2013, she contested in Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria(MBGN), representing Abia state.

Desmond Agboola, the director of Queen of Aso beauty pageant confirmed the sad news.

Tragedy Hits Dayo 'D1' As Teenager Dies In His Hotel


This is not the best of time for popular media personality turned politician, Dayo Adeney(D-One) as an unidentified teenager was confirmed dead in the swimming pool of his hotel, DC Bar & Suites, located at Owode-Ajegunle in Ikorodu area of Lagos.

According to reports, the sad incidence occurred on Tuesday, January 6, barely a year after the the hotel began operations.
The death of the teenager(male) generated a lot of attention in the neighborhood and attracted passers-by.

This is a sad turn of events for D1 who is still celebrating his new appointment, as part of Media and Publicity Committee for Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun. 

Police PRO, Kenneth Nwosu confirmed the incident adding that investigations are still ongoing.
