Badoo Love Turned Sour As Lady Kills Boyfriend In Port Harcourt

Lady who killed lover says "There was sex; no money, and i became angry."

A student of Rivers State Polytechnic, Lorreta Odikagbo has been arrested by the Police for killing her Badoo lover, Charles Bankole Orisanya.

Lorreta who met the deceased on a popular social network, Badoo,  said she killed her boyfriend due to his inability to fulfill his promise to her.

The deceased who was in his early thirties, was a Civil Engineer. He was reportedly killed on the 19th of September 2014, when he was suffocated with a polythene by his girlfriend alongside two others.

The suspect has been on the run since then, until she was arrested by the Police.
Below, is how she narrated the issue with the Nigerian Tribune.
“I am from Rumuomasi, Obio/Akpor Local Government area of Rivers State. I was born on May 2, 1988. I hold a Diploma in Mass Communication and was to resume for my HND in January 2015 but I was arrested in December 2014.
“I asked a friend, Moses to help harass a man who was my boyfriend but is now deceased. I met Bankole (Orisanya) through a social network called Badoo in January 2014 and we got intimate online since he was at the rig offshore when we met. He was there for two months and we became internet lovers. We were chatting and exchanging pictures. When he came back, he invited me over and we started dating.
“The basis of it all was money. When I met him, it was all promises upon promises. Along the line, the sex was going on and the money was not coming. He would give me N10, 000 or N15, 000 but that was not what I expected from him. Also when we first met, to me, he was a single man but along the line, I discovered he was married.
“We talked about it but he didn’t want the affair to end. He said that it would not be a problem and he could handle it. But I only continued with him because I was waiting for the promises to be fulfilled. I was not interested in marriage to him. We had a bit of misunderstanding concerning money and our relationship. I asked my friend who is also my in-law to help me so that I could get the money forcefully from Bankole.Along the line, I could not control my anger so I asked my in-law to come help harass him to get what I could get from him and move on with my life.
“On a particular night, he called me and I went to his place with my in-law and one other guy. I felt it was an opportunity to deal with him. We went to his residence and I managed to sneak the two men into the compound. I hid them under the stairs. I went in to Bankole and we made love. After we were done, I left him in the bedroom and went to the kitchen as if I wanted to drink water, and let the guys in. I made it look like both of us were being robbed. We met Bankole in the sitting room; probably trying to know what kept me away for long.
“There was no light. I didn’t see any gun. My in-law was holding a tape while the other guy held a torch and something that looked like a gun. Bankole and I went on our knees and the guys were threatening us, asking for money. My lover told them that he had money in his account so he gave them his ATM card pin number.
“My-in law tied his hands with the tape and the second guy acted like I had to be the one to follow him to the ATM. It was raining heavily that night. It was almost midnight. We left for the ATM and I withdrew a little over N120, 000 and paid the guy off. I gave him about N30, 000 or thereabout. My in-law came to meet me at the ATM and I also gave him almost N50, 000.
However, Lorreta denied knowing what led to the death of the victim.
“I took Bankole’s LG phone while his laptop was brought to me the following day by my in-law. I can’t remember what the other guy took from Bankole’s house. I didn’t know anything about the polythene that was used to cover his head.  I didn’t have the intention of dating him anymore; I just wanted to move on. I only knew about Bankole’s death when I was arrested.
However, Okadigbo's in-law, Moses gave a different account of what happend.
He said; “Loretta called me and said that she and her boyfriend were having some issues. She said he owed her some money and had refused to ‘settle’ her. She said she would call me to go and harass him, promising to notify me whenever he called her. Before then, she gave me some money to buy a torchlight, which I did.
“On a day, she called me and came to meet me. We went to Rumuomasi to pick another guy called Winkoro. He refused to be part of the plan and we left him. As we walked, we saw a boy whom I knew but don’t know his name. I introduced him to her and she explained her intention to him and he joined us.
“She took us to the man’s house and kept us under the staircase. Earlier, she gave the other guy a rope and masking tape and I was with a torch light and an iron object that looked like a gun. After a while, she called us in and we got into the kitchen. Minutes later, according to her instruction, we got into the room where she was with her boyfriend.
“I pointed the torch at the man and said: “Na you dey owe our sister and you no wan pay”. The lover boy pleaded that he was going to pay; that we should calm down. The guy with us tied the man’s legs with a rope and taped his hands. Loretta stood up and slapped the man repeatedly. After that, she asked the man of money but he said he had no money at home. He pointed at his ATM cards and gave Loretta the pin number.
“She and the other guy left for the ATM and I stayed with our victim. I later called her to confirm if the pin was right and she said yes. I asked if I should start coming but she asked me to wait at the man’s house. Before she left, she and the other guy packed some items like laptop, phone. When she came back, she went to the man’s room.
“She came out, went to the kitchen, brought a polythene bag and said that if I did not assist her in killing the man, if the bubble burst, I would be the first person she would mention. She covered the man’s head with the polythene bag and sat on his head while I assisted her in holding the man’s neck until he became motionless.
“Loretta gave me N28, 000. I was arrested on December 10, 2014. She was the one who led the police to me. I took three shirts and a sandal from the man’s house. Taking the man’s life was not in the initial plan.”
On the relationship between them, Moses said that he and Lorreta used to drink alcohol together while she was a chain smoker. Lorreta confirmed this, and added that she used to smoke Marijuana.

Curfew Lifted In Maiduguri, Residents Told To Stay And Fight

A curfew imposed in the northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri after a weekend Boko Haram attack was lifted on Monday, as the state governor urged residents to stay and fight.
The restive city has been on lock-down since Sunday morning, when the Islamist militants launched a dawn raid that was later repelled by the military.
Nigerian Army spokesman Colonel Sani Usman said: “The curfew imposed on Maiduguri has been lifted as from 6:00 am (0500 GMT). People can go about their legitimate business.”
The military high command in Abuja has said “scores” of Boko Haram fighters were killed as soldiers using heavy weaponry with air support halted the rebel advance.
The attack came a day after President Goodluck Jonathan visited the city as part of his re-election campaign and again vowed to end the six-year insurgency.

Be Warned! No American Visa For You, If You Promote Election Violence

The United States, has warned that it would deny visa to any Nigerian thought or perceived to be complicit and/or believed to be sponsoring election violence in Nigeria.
According to US Secretary of State, John Kerry, any Nigerian who promotes any form of election violence during or after election remains ineligible for the country’s visa.
Kerry made the statement at a news conference in Lagos, on Sunday, January 25, shortly after meeting with presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Major General Mohammed Buhari and President Goodluck Jonathan.
He stated that the US is making enormous investment to ensure credible elections take place in Nigeria.
While urging Nigerians to help make the elections free, fair and credible, Kerry also harped on the need to continue campaigning for progressive democratic rule in Nigeria.
He said: “The U.S. Government strongly believe in Nigeria having credible, free and fair elections come February 14. The US Government wants to say that any Nigerian who promotes any form of violence during the elections remains ineligible for U.S. visa.”

Man Threatens To Kill Nigerian Gay Activist, Bisi Alimi On Facebook

Nigerian Gay Activist, Bisi Alimi received a death threat from someone on Facebook.
"Here's a message i got on the 25th of January 2015 at 22:31. I am sharing this so people can see the reason why i fear my life going back to Nigeria. On a daily basis, i get this kind of message from #Nigerians threatening to kill me. Many times i have been followed in London and many times i fear coming out of my house. When i talk about the imminent threat to my life, many think i am making it up. I love Nigeria but i have to make a wise decision to either go back and risk my life or stay away completely. I know one day will come and my children and grandchildren will see a better Nigeria. Tonight i am going to bed with tears in my eyes and with a heavy heart as i have no idea why someone will hate me this much just because of who i am. I please beg you to help me share this picture on Facebook, until the guy gets it. In doing so, please only show him love. Never abuse or get mad at him. Thank you for your support."

Why I Parted With Don Jazzy - D'banj Opens Up

After all these years, D'banj finally opened up on his separation from Don Jazzy.

Entertainer and business man, D'banj was a guest at the latest episode of "The Truth" and he opened up on everything ranging from how he lost his brother, his journey into music, how he met Don Jazzy, amongst other things.

On what made him quit Mo'Hits....
What made me? (shocked expression) You guys have not spoken to Jazzy? Jazzy. Tell them the truth mehn.. Come and tell them these people the truth.. What broke Mo’Hits.. Hmmn Difference of opinion.. First of all it wasn’t me. We had travelled and left Don Jazzy in New York with some of the management team because he had a production deal. We were trying to go global.. I would love if you had the Truth from Jazzy too, it would have been better I met Kanye West, but you all know I am a businessman. But there were two different deals. One he saw I was an artiste and he wanted to sign that artiste. Then this artist said “I have a producer. We have the best thing coming from Africa… And he was sold. And then we flew to New York.
His deal with Kanye West...
I got an artiste deal. I got a standard artiste deal because Kanye wanted to sign me as an artiste. Then I said nooo.. I’m a businessman. I have a record label can do partnership. It was a partnership between Mo’Hits Record, Good Music and Def Jam records. It wasn’t going to be D’banj and Don Jazzy. I was just the first part of the deal. There was also a production deal because Kanye loved Jazzy’s sound.
Don Jazzy pulled out: On why Jazzy pulled out – He saw the big picture but some people are real. You can force a horse to a river, but you can’t force it to drink water.
What really caused the split?
Eh first person if I will be truthful will be Dr Sid (laughs). We came back from New York and had a meeting with Don Jazzy and Jazzy expressed his discomfort like listen, this place is too expensive, we are spending money. Going to stay there, things dey happen for Nigeria, we are already bosses here… We don’t need all this.. I’m like we are almost there. It is expensive but we can’t guarantee because its a doggy world out there.  I said to him, listen brother, this is not uncertainty. For Kanye West to see us, na God.. and he said he didn’t want
us to do it again ..He wasn’t interested… But I told him because I had sensed it before the last concert we had. I told the lawyers in New York. They were trying to get him to come around but he didn’t. So we had that meeting and he said he didn’t want me as a partner again. That there was a lot ..I told him to give me 6 months..to convince him again..maybe to sell my share to someone else, take the money to go and try again ..I saw it wasn’t working and he formed a synergywith SID. It was clear. He wasn’t comfortable around me…My mistake was, I wasn’t sensitive enough to have noticed… So December 2011, during a general meeting after 6 months, he said he had thought about it and wasn’t interested…Infact, not just him..That this one is not interested, this one is not interested (Mo’Hits members)..I said ah! I was heartbroken. K-Switch is my brother..But the truth? K-Switch was with them…my People were not comfortable with me again…Now I look at it, maybe I did change…We all changed ..It wasn’t money…It was because we ran Mo’Hits Record like a family. That’s why we failed….

President Jonathan Promises The US Credible, Free, Fair Election

Following his meeting with US Secretary of State, John Kerry who visited Sunday, January 25 to convey the US government concern about the treath of violence during the forth coming elections, President Goodluck Jonathan assured the visiting US official of his determination to conduct a credible, free and fair election.

This is was contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati.
The statement reads;“We had a candid and constructive discussion about a broad range of issues. Nigeria is a vibrant democracy and the largest trading partner of the United States in Africa, with more than $18 billion in bilateral trade.  Our countries and peoples share a mutual admiration for each other and a deep commitment to freedom, democracy, and human rights.
“This is why we are together engaged in a struggle against a common enemy that promotes terror, fear, division, and violates human rights, most especially of women and girls, with complete impunity. Winning the fight against Boko Haram in Nigeria and West Africa is absolutely essential to beat back the tide of religious extremism around the world.
“Our security forces have been working tirelessly and courageously to achieve this goal.  I reaffirmed for Secretary Kerry that Nigeria is strongly committed to building the multinational task force to fight Boko Haram in partnership with Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Benin Republic under the auspices of the Lake Chad Basin Commission.  Indeed, I called publicly for such a regional approach at the African leaders summit in Paris in May 2014 and more recently in multilateral meetings.
“We are pleased that the international community is now strongly united behind this initiative and agree that its success is critical. It is equally important that the multinational force receives the significant support that is required to address the threat through our global partners.
