Watch Part 2 Of D'banj's Interview On "The Truth" With Olisa Adibua Here

You think you've heard it all? Then be prepared for more explosive revelations.

Recently, D'banj opened up on why he quit Mo'hit Records and how fellow artist, Dr Sid fueled his his split with Don Jazzy.

Below is highlights of the second part of the interview with AOP Olisa Adibua on "The Truth".

– D’banj said Don Jazzy told him that whenever he hears his (D’Banj’s) voice on the radio he always changes the station. That statement, D’banj said, was very hurtful. It hurt him so bad that he left his house and sought refuge in a hotel and then moved on to South Africa.
– He never expected Oliver Twist to be such a huge hit and was in South Africa when it blew up in London and he had to rush over there. He believes the song’s sudden success was God’s way of taking him away from all the drama back home in Nigeria.
– The deal with Kanye West was not completed at this stage, however, Kanye was so impressed with the song that he agreed to make an appearance in the video. As Kanye is an ‘action man’ as D’banj calls him, they shot the video straight away while still in London.
– D’Banj knows that everyone wants him and Don Jazzy to work together again and thinks there is a possible of that happening, if the price is right. He bumped into Don Jazzy in America and they discussed the possibility of a reunion, a business reunion. Don Jazzy told him that it would have to be for the right money for that to ever happen.
– ‘A friend in need is a burglar in the future’ was D’banj response to Olisa’s question on if the duo would get back to being friends – read into that what you may!
– In response to questions about his public support of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011, D’banj vehemently refuted suggestions that he had been paid for the interview. He stated that he had himself requested the interview and that he felt that it was the right thing for him to do as a man and citizen of Nigeria.
– He admitted that he got paid, but for his work as a musician.
– He felt that the backlash he got at that time was unfortunate as he was put through ‘heat, fire and hell’.
– He wouldn’t be tied down to answering whether he would do the same again this time round as he is ‘unavailable’ right now and travels a lot.
– The conversation between D’banj and Olisa became heated when Olisa started questioning the artiste on the state of his career sinceOliver Twist and it seemed that a ‘raw nerve’ was touched.
– He strongly denied allegations that he did not write Top of the World and said it was a big hit which he really loves and questioned Olisa on who determines what makes a big hit anyway and if his show is The Lie, not The Truth.
– D’banj insisted that he had had great success since leaving Mo’hits. He won awards, traveled the world, had the highest downloaded song in 2013 and reached the point where he wanted to expand and do something new. He made clear that that just because he hasn’t been spending all his time in Nigeria doesn’t mean that he has not been successful.
– He also denied that his new song ‘Feeling the Nigga’ was written for Akon and that he made a cameo appearance in it. He said Akon is in the remix and that they are both his songs. D’banj became agitated when Olisa questioned the ownership of the song.
– Olisa asked what happened to D’banj’s Koko Mobile phone and why it hasn’t been seen in the market but he refused to go into this topic in depth. He said the phone sold out and hinted at a deal with Apple which he cannot talk much about due to contractual limitations.
– He also has a deal with Beat’s by Dre and the headphones will be released soon (hopefully by Easter) in Africa.
– Olisa asked about the rumours, allegations and court actions against him claiming that he has unpaid debts amongst other things. D’anj said that he’s been advised by lawyers not to speak about this in detail but made it very clear that he doesn’t owe anybody any money.
– According to him, the past two years have been some of his best years financially, despite Olisa’s efforts to say otherwise.
– He dismissed the people that have left him and no longer wants to work with him saying that the people who left were not meant to be there in the first place.
– He revealed that he recently had a friend/business associate arrested because he found out that one of his investments was mismanaged to the cost of “around $2m.” The individual had gone behind his back to commit fraud but said the police is now dealing with the issue. He advised young people who are going into business to be very careful with documents and make sure that all papers are always properly signed.
– He refused to answer any questions about women or his personal relationships as it has gotten him in too much trouble in the past. He also refused to give a clear-cut answer as to whether he had a relationship with Genevieve.
– January 31 will be the Lagos release party for his 10th year anniversary. Other celebrations will take place across the world. The celebrations will take the form of parties in clubs and concerts. Following the party in Lagos there will be events in Dubai, South Africa, Malaysia and London.
– Of course, Olisa got him to apologise for the debacle that was his Koko Concert which held at Eco Atlantic in 2012. Recall that quests had to trek for miles along the Eco Atlantic beach to get to the concert venue.

Why I’m inviting Amber Rose to Nigeria – D’banj explains

D'banj is bringing American diva, Amber Rose to Nigeria to host his 10th Anniversary show this weekend.

What you may not know however, is why the Koko master settled for the mother of one whose marriage to rapper, Wiz Khalifa crashed last year.

In a chat with NETng he said; "“It doesn’t matter what anybody thinks about that, what matters at the end of the day is what I want and everybody already knows that when it comes to access to having international friends, no one has it more than I do.
“No one has brought international acts to the country more than I’ve done. The likes of Hollywood actor, Idris Elba, rappers, Tinie Tempah, 2Chainz, Pusha T and several others….
“So it doesn’t matter what it’s costing me and more so if it was all about the money, you probably would have heard adverts from last year about it, so for me it’s not about the money, it’s about having a great kick-off and believe me during the course of the year so many other people will come that will make you wonder: ‘how did D’banj do this.’
And oh, by the way, he calls the show a party...
“And I call it a party because I’m inviting people to come and have fun and celebrate with me. Then throughout the year, we’ll visit different cities, different nations, we’ll be partying in some and at some places we’ll be having the Koko concert. In the last couple of months, I’ve been working on the 10th anniversary album that will be dropping this year, you might have seen the movie trailer as well, and I call it a movie musical.
“The full plan will be rolled out next month, but this first night with Amber Rose is just to party. For me, most people that know my story know how I always move, it’s always a movement, no one is an island, I know my talent, I’m a great entertainer by God’s grace so I’m planning to entertain everyone throughout the whole year, it’s a movement of D’banj and friends, I’ll be sharing the stage with a lot of people through the year.”

Poverty Is What Makes Nigerian Entertainers Flock Around Politicians - Actor Saidi Balogun

Popular actor and producer in the Yoruba movie industry, Saidi Balogun has called out his colleagues to stop flocking around politicians during campaign rallies and endorsements, because he sees it as unprofessional.
And he said such behavior is borne out of "poverty" mentality.

He said this, in a recent interview with Encomium Magazine.

Hear him;“(Poverty), that’s why you see some of our people running helter-skelter, campaigning for all these politicians. But there’s one question we have all not asked, and that’s what makes American artists donate to politicians while the actors in Nigeria are asking from politicians.
Every member of the National Assembly has not made an reasonable law on piracy which has devoured the industry. So, there’s poverty in the industry. If there’s not, you won’t see our people flocking around all these politicians, campaigning, singing and dancing for them.
“I saw a candidate being surrounded by some of our colleagues; I now said to myself, ‘if this man eventually wins, how many actors or musicians will he remember? Although some are doing it to make ends meet.

“And it’s sad because we’re stars. I think we’re supposed to be worshiped, not worshiping others. Even if a governor holds your hand, he’s supposed to be happy. But now, the reverse is the case.”

May God Forgive Those Who Say I Support Boko Haram - GEJ

President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, described as wicked, the allegations that he was supporting the Boko Haram insurgency in the north eastern part of the country for political reasons.

Addressing a large crowd at the Ribadu Square where the Presidential rally took place, Jonathan said no sane leader would support insurgency of any type in a country that he presides over.

He said; " “Some people have insinuated that I am behind Boko Haram and I say, may Allah forgive them. There is no human being that will be the leader of his country and instigate crisis. Why should I bring Boko Haram to Adamawa State?
“In 2011, I got 65 per cent of the votes in Adamawa State. How can any mad person insinuate that I am in support of Boko Haram for political reasons? God willing, we will recover all the remaining local governments and join you in redeveloping Adamawa State again.”

I'm A Better Person Because Of Kim Kardashian - Kanye West

Marriage and fatherhood have made Kanye West a better person, he says.
"I've definitely learned how to compromise more," the rapper, 37, told Ellen DeGeneres about being married to Kim Kardashian, 34. "And I've learned how to shut up more. And yeah, I think I'm a better human being because of her and because of my daughter [North]."
He also said he sees a lot of himself in his daughter, especially when she gets frustrated.
"I think I was going through my version of my terrible twos. My daughter, she wants to express herself, and she just doesn't have the words for it. And, for me, there were so many things I wanted to do with film and clothing, and I just didn't have the words or the resources."

Not Again! President Jonathan's Convoy Stoned In Taraba

After the recent attacks on his convoy in Katsina and Bauchi states, President Goodluck Jonathan’s convoy was yet again stoned on Thursday, January 29, by some irate youth in Jalingo, Taraba State.
The president was in the city as part of the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential campaign rally.
The youths managed to damage the windscreens and windows of some of the vehicles on the convoy before security operatives used tear gas and horsewhips to disperse them.
According to an eyewitness on the scene, the incident occurred when the President’s convoy was heading to the palace of the Emir of Muri, Abass Tafida, from the airport.
“Security agents ensured that people were moved very far from the main but at a point, the convoy got to a particular village where the youths became restive. Before we knew what was happening, they started stoning the convoy,” a source said.
After the pelting of his convoy, an unperturbed Jonathan was said to have gone to visit Danbaba Suntai, the ailing governor of the state, who was involved in a plane crash in October 2012.
