Kanye Covers Paper Mag; Discusses The American Dream, Illuminati

Kanye West is Paper Mag’s latest cover boy in the issue entitled “American Dream”

The rapper who was recently christened one of the world’s “100 Most Influential People,” was asked by Paper Magazine to share his interpretation of the “American Dream.”
“I know people want to talk about the American Dream, but my dream is a world dream. It’s a world in which everyone’s main goal would be to help each other. The first thing I told my team on New Year’s Day was, ‘You know, people say bad news travels fast, but this year let’s make good news travel faster.'”

And this is what he had to say about illuminati;
“If there was actually an Illuminati, it would be more like the energy companies. Not celebrities that gave their life to music and who are pinpointed as decoys for people who really run the world. I’m tired of people pinpointing musicians as the Illuminati. That’s ridiculous. We don’t run anything; we’re celebrities. We’re the face of brands. We have to compromise what we say in lyrics so we don’t lose money on a contract. Madonna is in her 50s and gave everything she had to go up on an award show and get choked by her cape. She’s judged for who she adopts. Fuck all of this sensationalism. We gave you our lives. We gave you our hearts. We gave you our opinions!”

Obanikoro says Nigerians affected by xenophobic attacks will be compensated

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs II, Musiliu Obanikoro, says that citizens affected by the xenophobic attacks in South Africa will be compensated.

Since the attacks started last week, several Nigerians have lost their businesses and other belongings to fire set by locals on buildings where their businesses were housed.

Senator Obanikoro in an interview with Channels TV on Monday said that Nigerian High Commissioner, Martin Cobham and other delegations were taking stock of damages done to Nigerians to ensure that adequate compensation would be given to them.
“We have situations where some of our people lost their shops in this attack. We are taking stock of the damages done to them and we are going to be engaging the South African Government,” senator Obanikoro said.
He explained that different avenues are being explored to ensure there is an end to the attacks that have claimed several lives in KwaZulu-Natal province.
“One of the major stakeholders who incited the South African community has called for a meeting this morning where some representatives of the affected countries would be addressed.
“Some traditional rulers will be there to see how they can douse the situation and ensure the safety of Nigerians and other nationals in South Africa.
“This is a very shameful situation and it has attracted a lot of international outcry. I think the leaders have seen the need to ensure that the xenophobic attacks do not escalate.
“The attitude is now more promising and within the next few days we should be able to put this behind us. We are working on how best we can get a lasting solution to the problem,” he said.

Zulu king denies triggering S.Africa anti-immigrant attacks

South Africa's Zulu king has denied whipping up xenophobic hatred after he was accused of sparking violence that has left at least seven people dead.
Goodwill Zwelithini made a speech last month blaming immigrants for rising crime and ordering them to leave the country.
The outburst was seen as encouraging a spate of attacks on Zimbabweans, Somalians, Malawians and other foreigners.
But he told a tribal gathering in Durban he had been quoted out of context.
"This violence directed at our brothers and sister is shameful," he said.
"My speech ... was directed at the police, calling for stricter law enforcement, but that was never reported.
"The public was instead given another side of my speech, which had been twisted and misrepresented."
South African authorities have struggled to contain mobs in Johannesburg and Durban who have been hunting down and attacking foreigners.
At least seven people were killed last week and 307 suspects arrested in the worst ethnic violence since 2008, when 62 people were killed, mainly in Johannesburg's townships.

Zulu King bows to pressure, agrees to call for an end to xenophobic attacks

Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini is set to urge restraint after a wave of violence against migrants in South Africa.

He has been accused of fuelling the attacks which have killed at least seven people after saying foreigners should "go back to their countries".

More than 300 people have been arrested in the unrest.

According to City Press, Zwelithini has now called an imbizo in Durban for tomorrow where he is expected to call for an end to xenophobic attacks. The imbizo, at which the king will address the province’s traditional leaders and their subjects, will be held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium at 10am.

The President of South Africa who paid a visit to the Chatsworth refugee centre in Durban told the foreigners that the government was not forcing them to go, but would provide transport to repatriate those who wanted to leave. Those who wanted to stay, he said, would get help to return to their communities.
“We are not fighting with you as government. Not every South African is saying you must go. It is a small number of people who want you to go,” President Zuma said. “We want us to live as sister and brother.”

Wicked Couple Stabs 10-year -old Girl in her Private Parts (Photo)

A 10-year-old girl, Chidinma, has been admitted at an undisclosed hospital after a couple – Eucheria Chukwuma and Jerry Oko-Oboh – allegedly beat her up and stabbed her in the private parts with a broken bottle.

It was learnt that the couple and the victim’s family lived on Joshua Street, Agbabiaka, in the Ajangbadi area of Lagos. And that the couple assaulted the minor for allegedly fiddling with the vagina of their three-year-old daughter, Peace.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Chidinma, who denied the allegation, had played with Peace at about 7pm on April 6. It was alleged that the toddler later cried and told her parents that Chidinma fiddled with her private parts.

Angered by the complaint, 30-year-old Chukwuma, it was learnt, went to Chidinma’s mother, Ofia, demanding that Chidinma follow her to her room.

A few minutes later, Ofia reportedly heard her daughter screaming and rushed to Chukwuma’s apartment to see what was wrong.

On getting there, the door was said to have been locked by the couple who reportedly beat up the victim repeatedly with punches. Not satisfied, the wife allegedly stabbed Chidinma in the private parts and smeared them with pepper.

Punch was told that the couple fled the neighbourhood when blood started gushing from Chidinma’s vagina. They were later trailed and arrested by the police after the attack was reported at the Okokomaiko Police station.

The police said Chukwuma, in a statement she voluntarily made at the station, confessed to the crime, saying she became furious when the girl declined comments about Peace’s allegation.

She and her husband were subsequently arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court on three counts bordering on assault.

The offence, according to the police prosecutor, Olusoji Ojaokomo, is punishable under sections 171, 243 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The presiding magistrate, Mr. P.A. Adekomaya, admitted them to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with a surety each in like sum. He added that they be remanded in prison custody until their bail conditions were perfected.

The case was adjourned till May 13, 2015 for mention.

WHO links Ondo deaths with herbicide poisoning

For the past week or more, a strange ailment has killed over 18 people in the town of Ode Irele, in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State.

While many theories have been postulated as to what could be behind the outbreak of the disease, the World Health Organisation seems to have an answer.

The WHO says that pesticide poisoning is the probable cause of mysterious deaths.

WHO spokesman Gregory Hartl, said in a tweet that “current hypothesis is cause of the event is herbicides. Tests done so far are negative for viral and bacterial infection.”

Hartl revealed that from the tests carried out at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, the tentative theory is that the deaths were caused by weedkiller.

Meanwhile, the WHO officials have visited Irele town in Ondo State to trace some victims with symptoms of the unknown disease that has killed over 18 persons.

"I am too discipline to stoop so low"-Orubebe reacts to claims he planned to kidnap Jega

Former Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe has debunks rumour that his protests against INEC chairman,Jega at the presidential result collation centre ,was a deliberate attempt in order to pave way for Jega’s abduction and also cause national violence. He told Leadership.ng
“I am shocked. In fact, am still wondering why I will ever consider conniving with friends and other party stalwarts to foment national violence that will in turn fall on children, women and youths as falsely speculated to the detriment of the unity and peace of our great nation. I am an advocate of peace. This was why I was in the forefront to anchor the celebrated ceasefire with Niger Delta ex- militants to usher in peace to the once restive region. I cannot afford to sacrifice national unity and peace on the platter of power.”
Orubebe insisted, count me out of any plot to abduct Jega. I am too discipline to stoop that low. I have never thought of that and to this effect, I want to tell Nigerians and the world at large that the circulated story is not only slanderous, liberious but a disparaging defamatory otherwise salacious material against my personality and a cheap strategy to sale their papers’.‘I have directed my lawyer to write ThisDay and stop them from henceforth, desist from further publishing and misleading Nigerians. Orubebe further accused the paper of flouting the ethics of balance reportage , saying it in clear terms that ‘I was never called nor SMS as they claim.’

I Didn’t Spend N2trn On Campaign – President Jonathan

Contrary to viral reports, President Goodluck Jonathan has denied that he and the Peoples Democratic Party spent N2tn for campaigns for the general elections.

Jonathan also denied setting up a committee to conduct an audit of how the elections funds were disbursed by party members and state officials.

He made the clarification in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati.

SUNDAY PUNCH had reported in a story “Jonathan demands N2tn election funds refund, audit.”

He described the report as “mischievous, false and embarrassing.”

The presidential spokesman said with the country’s budget being a little above N4tn, the story suggested that half of the federal budget was spent on elections.

This insinuation, he argued, was meant to incite the public and instigate a national crisis.

Abati said the Presidency was worried that since the March 28 and April 11 elections, some persons had continued to work very hard to diminish the Jonathan Presidency.

The statement partly read, “The front-page story of the Sunday Punch of April 19 alleging that the Presidency spent a whopping N2tn on the 2015 general elections, and that a Committee of Five has been set up by President Jonathan to conduct an audit of how the funds were disbursed by party members and state officials is mischievous, false and embarrassing.
“The President has not set up any committee as alleged in that story. It is also not true that the Presidency and the Peoples Democratic Party used state funds, or spent N2tn on the campaigns. The innuendoes are wrong-headed; the motives behind the story are suspicious.”

Grant presidential pardon to Ibori, Ijaw group urges Jonathan

A group in Delta state has implored President Goodluck Jonathan to grant presidential pardon to the former governor of the state, James Ibori, before leaving office on May 29.

On Sunday, the Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, IPDI, insisted that Ibori should be freed as he had suffered enough.

The group stated that several of his colleagues who also pilfered government money still have their freedom, while Ibori is behind

In an interactive session with newsmen, National President the group, Austin Ozobo, said: “Chief Ibori has suffered enough and there is no justification for not granting him clemency, as had been done to others.”
“Ibori should be freed. Hundreds of persons who looted heavily from government coffers are walking freely in the streets. The continuous incarceration of one corrupt man among a million other corrupt citizens cannot change the menace of high level corruption in the country.”
“Ibori’s imprisonment could be seen as a witch-hunt and such is highly barbaric and provocative and the Nigerian government must quickly do something about his matter. Despite the ordeals Ibori is passing through, Deltans hold him in high esteem and his great achievements while in office cannot be discountenanced.”
“There should be no sacred cow among political office holders. Ibori’s case is not different, he is a victim of circumstances. Release him and let him breathe fresh air and let other corrupt public office holders be tried as well.”
