"My Enemies Are At Work" - Comedian Ay reacts to marriage breakup

Popular standup comedian AY Makun’s marriage is alleged to have crashed with the wife Mabel being said to have moved out of their matrimonial home while he was away abroad.

Stella Dimokokorkus reported the breakup on Tuesday, February 23. The embittered comedian has openly reacted to the speculations, saying he does not want to join issues with Stella Dimokokorkus and that since she has all the details of his marriage breakup, she should tell it all. The comedian who is also an actor and movie producer said it is only unfortunate that Nigeria is a country where you cannot sue for damages.

He wrote;
“Some blogs are, for the most part, the bringers of bad news and it's not entirely the bloggers fault, bad news gets higher ratings, travels faster and sells more than good news. The reality is that you will continue to hear negative information from many sources against anything that showcases your blessings and pride. Gossip is just a tool to distract people who have nothing better to do from feeling jealous of those few who are still remaining in the institution called 'Celebrity Marriage’. It lies in our will to decide whether to discard them into the waste bin or record them into our brains! The question is... whose report will you believe? His report says I am free. His report says victory. His report says we are blessed. We cast and bind. Pray for the ones you love.”

Outrage In Edo State As 75-year-old Pensioner Slumps, Dies During Screening [PHOTO]

There was pandemonium on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at the Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State after a local government pensioner, identified as Sunday Oboite, slumped and died during screening.

It was learnt that Oboite, 75, died at the reception of the local government secretariat.

The deceased, who retired from the Works department of the council, was at the secretariat for screening which the council had directed the pensioners to undertake before they would be paid their 10-month pension arrears.

He was offered a bottle of beverage and some water by a Good Samaritan after he complained of
hunger.

He, however, slumped at about 1.20pm, before he was confirmed dead by some doctors at the council.

According to a source, his death sparked a protest among other pensioners, who were enraged by what had befallen their colleague.

The source said:
“Some of them complained that they had presented themselves for screening at the secretariat at about 8am, but were later informed to go to Urhokpota Hall, about 100 metres away. They also decried the delay in the exercise, which took hours before it commenced.”

The Secretary of Oredo Pensioners Association, Mr. James Erhunmense, said that the late Oboite had arrived at the venue of the exercise alone and complained of not having any money to buy food and drugs.

He also said that the late pensioner was unable to go to the designated hall with his colleagues but chose to wait at the reception due to tiredness.

Another pensioner, James Omorogbe, said the computers used for the screening were always shutting down, adding that it took the death of their colleague for the council to provide them with chairs.

He said the death of Oboite could have been avoided if the council officials had prepared for the screening.

“Sunday said he had no money to buy food and drugs. For 10 months now, we have not been paid. Many others have died without collecting their benefits,” Omorogbe added.

Alert! Mobile Phones Are ‘Cooking’ Men’s Sperm- Experts

Fertility experts have warned all men to be wary of using a mobile phone as the use for as little as an hour a day is “cooking sperm” and lowering level significantly. The new study shows that having a mobile phone close to the testicles – or within a foot or two of the body – can lower sperm levels so much that conceiving could be difficult.

The findings have led to a leading British fertility expert to advise men to stop being addicted to mobile phones.

“If you wear a suit to work put the mobile in your chest pocket instead of close to your testes. It will reduce the risk of your sperm count dropping or dropping so much.”

The study – by highly respected specialists – found that sperm levels of men who kept their phones in their pocket during the day were seriously affected in 47 per cent of cases compare to just 11 per cent in the general population.

Professor Martha Dirnfeld, of the Technion University in Haifa, said: “We analysed the amount of active swimming sperm and the quality and found that it had been reduced.
“We think this is being caused by a heating of the sperm from the phone and by electromagnetic activity.”

The team monitored more than 100 men attending a fertility clinic for a year.

The quality of sperm among men in Western countries is constantly decreasing, they found. They also found that besides men keeping their phones close to their groin many spoke on the phone while it was charging and kept it only a few centimetres from their bed.

Even keeping the phone on a bedside table appears to raise lower sperm cell counts.

They also discovered the quality of sperm among men in Western countries is constantly decreasing and is considered crucial in 40 percent of the cases in which couples have difficulty conceiving a child.

Ecobank Fires top 50 Managers

Ecobank Nigeria Plc has sacked 50 top managers of the bank as it struggles to stay afloat in the midst of biting economic hardship in the country. The rank of those sacked ranged from Assistant General Manager, Deputy General Manager and above whose monthly salaries range between N1 million and N2 million.

The affected top management staff of the bank were handed their sack letters from the bank’s head office in Victoria Island, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on Tuesday.

A source in the bank told PM News that the bank has been going through tough time as a result of crippling economy, occasioned by dwindling oil prices and the crumbling of the naira to dollar, leading to lots of restructuring in recent times in trying to survive in a fast collapsing Nigeria economy.

According to the insider, the source of revenue to the bank had trimmed since the hardship began biting hard, noting that, it is affecting all Nigeria banks and that since Ecobank had not been making money, there was no way it could continue to pay the huge wage bill of top echelon staff which ranged from N1 million to N2 million.

“Ecobank is not the only bank facing the biting effect of the economy and the bank is only trying to trim its wages,” the source told PM News.

Adding that “since those at the top earned more, it decided to sack many at the top level”.
