Top 5 Actresses Of 2014 According To Charles Novia

Controversial Nollywood producer, Charles Novia has once again released his top five actresses in the Nigeria movie industry for 2014.
He explained that those who made the list was not bases on perceived popularity on red carpets or social media, but based on universal templates for acting.

In 2013, the renowned film maker released this same list, which generated mixed reactions from those in the industry. Mercy Johnson was his top actress for 2013.

According to him, in 2014, there was an improvement in the acting capacities of a number of actresses, both old and new.

"I believe those soaps, serials and films might just be tilting us away from the 'Africanness' in our acting styles.
Many of the up and coming actors in such programes act more westernized and far removed from the organic characterizations, which our early and classic Nollywood movies were known for."

On his list, Chika Ike was missing, it will be recalled that, a while back, Charles Novia threw shades at the actress for showing off on social media. Chika Ike's manager reacted by blasting the film maker.

Using Criteria such as interpretation, characterization, internalization, enunciation and actor's visualization among others, the following made the list of top five actresses.

1)Nse Ikpe-Etim
2)Onyeka Onwenu
3)Omoni Oboli
4)Queen Nwokoye
5)Kemi Lala Akindoju

Move over Mercy Johnson, Queen Nwokoye is the new toast of Asaba Film Makers

In time past, Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson who recently gave birth to a baby boy was the toast of many movie makers especially in Asaba.
She was paid as high as N2 million per movie and she allegedly got banned at some point for charging "too high".

However, since she went on maternity leave, fast rising actress, Queen Nwokoye has filled the gap.
She's now busiest actress in Nigeria movie industry. Many film makers in Asaba, Delta state and Enugu axis now run after the actress for appearance in their movies.

Controversial producer, Charles Novia revealed this on a recent post tiled, the top 5 Nollywood actresses of 2014.
Hear him; "More often-than-not, many tend to dismiss the "Asabawood" genre of movies as crass, without structure and lacking a linear progression of plots."

"While a lot of movies from that area, juxtaposed with the so-called "New Nollywood" movies, can be a critics nightmare to watch. There is no denying that a few actors and actresses in that genre of movies has given us some performance which deserve applause."

"Queen Nwokoye is one of such worthy of mention of 2014. Whilst researching a bit more on her movies for 2014, i was authoritatively told that she is presently the most commercial actress in the Asaba movies, ever since Mercy Johnson went on maternity leave, with her movies selling in the millions."

"While such Information does little to influence my artistic evaluation of her acting prowess, it was certainly important enough for me to file away in my memory bank that Queen must have something which appeals to the buying audience of such films.
After watching her in a spawn of top-selling Asaba movies in 2014, i understood why."
