TB Joshua Returns Ederly Woman's Tithe Of N.1million

Pastor TB Joshua posted a heart-warming story on his official Facebook Page about an elderly lady who came to his church with an unusual gift.
A retired teacher named Caroline Orugude had come to The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in Lagos, Nigeria to share a curious testimony.
After retiring from her job in June, 2012, Caroline was forced to wait almost two years for the gratuity that she was supposed to receive. “There was nothing much we could do except pray because the pension system is so unreliable,” she narrated to the congregation.
After visiting various churches for prayer without any visible change, she was introduced to Emmanuel TV, the popular Christian television station broadcasting the activities at The SCOAN, and began praying along with T.B. Joshua.
Within two weeks, she received a call from the treasury, asking her to go to Abuja to collect her pension money. “I decided that when I got the money, I would come to The SCOAN to appreciate the Lord,” she joyfully said. “I am here with the small sum of 500,000 naira, to give to the man of God and the SCOAN as my tithe."

It was an unexpected declaration but the response of Joshua was equally surprising as he insisted he could not collect the gift.
“Yes, it is written in the Bible that we should pay tithe but how can we collect tithe from widows and the aged who are supposed to be under our care,” he questioned the congregation.
“Remember, she has stopped working. She needs our care for the rest of her life. These are the women we should be feeding and taking care of. She is our mother; she is my mother too.”
The cleric, who is well known for his philanthropic gestures, then announced that instead of taking Mrs. Orugude’s tithe, he would support her with an additional 500,000 naira.

I Promise To Do Better If Given A 2nd Chance - GEJ

President Goodluck Jonathan said, yesterday, that he deserves a second term to enable him consolidate on the achievements he has recorded during his first term in office and promised to do better if he is re-elected.

President Jonathan said this during the presidential campaign rally in Lokoja, and he said most governments worldwide perform better during the second term of their administrations.
According to the president, public office holders perform better during their second term because they have enough time to settle down and plan quickly.
He said: “Whatever we have done in the last four years, we believe that we will even do more in the next four years. Most governments all over the world do better in their second tenure.
“This is because the Presidents are more stable that time, especially in this two-term arrangement. They sit down and plan for the country and focus on key areas.”

Mercy Johnson Has Chosen Her Presidential Candidate; See Who She's Rooting For

Just after Rita Dominic openly declared her support for President Goodluck Jonathan's re-election, Mercy Johnson has also gone on record to say that she's supporting GEJ for a second term.

The actress and mother of two, revealed this in a recent interview with iCampus. She gave reasons why Jonathan should be given a second chance.
"He deserves another chance. This is a president who has good intentions for the nation. He is by no means a perfect man but he means well and he has apparently learnt from his weaknesses in the last four years. We must continue to believe in this great nation of ours. Nigeria belongs to us. The president cannot do it alone. He needs our help and we should not let him down at a time like this when he needs our votes to get the job done.

PDP Condemns Buhari For Refusing To Participate In Media Debate

The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has condemned APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari for refusing to participate in yet another media debate, organized by Channels TV and Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria(NPAN).

According to a statement by PDP spokesperson, Femi Fani-Kayode.
We have been informed that General Buhari and the APC have decided not to participate in the NPAN-CHANNELS Television-organised debate after they had earlier agreed to take part in it.
We had thought that having withdrawn from participating in the debate organised by Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), they would have availed themselves this second platform.
Now that they have also turned their back on this, it is now very clear that General Buhari is incapable of engaging in rigorous live television debates on the issues of governance. It speaks about his intellectual laziness and his loss of touch with contemporary issues of development and statecraft.
We would like to reiterate that the APC has something to shield about General Buhari. He has campaigned in some states of the federation attacking President Jonathan’s handling of insurgency, corruption and economy. Now there is a platform on which both candidates can engage each other on these issues and he (Buhari) is running away.
It is a disgrace to the APC and their candidate that they would treat everybody with contempt. The organisers of the debates are interested in promoting a robust culture of debates so that people can listen to the candidates and make informed choices on the basis of their arguments.
We call on Nigerians to express their displeasure with General Buhari and the APC by rejecting them at the poll. This will be a just recompense for treating the Nigerian people and electorate with disdain.

Someone Just Went To Court To Disqualify President Jonathan

A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed February 11 for the hearing of a fresh suit seeking an order declaring President Goodluck Jonathan unfit to contest in the February 14 election.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed, who also presides over two other suits challenging Jonathan’s eligibility to seek another term in office, fixed hearing date for the fresh suit on Tuesday, February 3.

The plaintiffs in the fresh suit are Tunde Samuel, Junaidu Mohammed, Rasak Adeogun and Yahaya Ezeemoo Ndu.

The plaintiffs contended the eligibility of Jonathan to re-contest the office of the President, arguing that allowing him to do so could would amount to spending more than eight years allowed for anyone to serve in the office.

They want the court to declare that it is unconstitutional, unlawful, illegal and not permissible for any person to occupy the office of the president of Nigeria for more than a cumulative and aggregate period of eight years when the country was not at war, explaining that if Jonathan won another term of four years from 2015, he would have been permitted to occupy the office of the President for more than eight years.

They also asked the court to declare that in computing the period already spent in office as President by Jonathan, the period from May 6, 2010 to May 28, 2011 should be reckoned with.

The plaintiffs further seeks a declaration that having spent a period of more than four years in office as President since May 6, 2010, Jonathan no longer had the competence, authority or entitlement to contest for the same office for another term of four years.

Jonathan is the only defendant in the suit and he has yet to file his response.

PDP bribed Christian leaders with N6billion to campaign against APC – Gov. Amaechi

Governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi, has made a serious allegation saying that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) bribed some Christian religious leaders with N6bn to campaign against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Amaechi, the religious leaders have been circulating documents to make Nigerians believe that the APC and Buhari would islamise Nigeria if voted into power on February 14.

He said this, while addressing a crowd at the state APC governorship rally in Emohua, on Tuesday, February 3, where he implored the religious leaders to return the bribe money to the Federal Government.
“Some pastors collected N6bn and they are circulating document and telling you not to vote for an Hausa man; not to vote for a Muslim; that they want to Islamise Nigeria. Tell them to return our N6bn. They gave them N6bn; they should return it to the Federal Government coffers. They will tell you that Buhari wants to Islamise Nigeria; tell them we are too educated.”
“I am a Catholic, but no Catholic priest has told me that story right now in the Catholic Church because, I will ask him how. If any pastor tells you that, tell him to return the money. Nobody can Islamise Nigeria; they have commercialised Jesus Christ. They should stop commercialising the Christian faith. You know what Jesus Christ did in the temple? He chased them away.”
“We shall chase away those pastors who have collected money from the PDP to tell us lies. We shall chase them away on behalf of Christ.”
The national leader of PDP described the allegations by Amaechi as a "crime against God."

While reacting to the allegations of the governor, the state Assistant Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Samuel Nwanosike, challenged him (Amaechi) to name the pastors that collected the N6bn.

He said: “It shows clearly that Governor Amaechi has conceded defeat and that Dr. Jonathan has what it takes to continue as the President of this country.”

In a similar vein, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh, described the comments as a “Crime against God”, while also
“It is also a crime to the Church and Christianity. It is an insult on Christianity. To say that pastors are paid to support the President is height of recklessness. Such allegation is despicable and should be condemned. There was nothing like that from us as a party and there was nothing like that from our candidate.”
