Another bomb blast rips through Maiduguri, kill many

Another early morning bomb attack has occurred in a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno state, killing and injuring many worshippers during the early morning prayer session, witnesses said.
The blasts, according to residents occurred in Jiddari Polo area at about 5am when Muslims were performing the first congregational prayer of the day.
Details of casualties are still sketchy as security officials have cordoned the area while rescue and aide workers tried to evacuate corpses and injured victims.
But a spokesman of the local Civilian-JTF, Abbas Gava, told PREMIUM TIMES that “it was two bomb explosion in a mosque in Jiddari Polo,  very close to the Federal High Court complex. We are still trying to get the correct figure of casualties”.

PRNigeria, an agency that distributes press statements on behalf of Nigerian security and rescue agencies, said rescuers from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) had so farevacuated six dead bodies from the scene of the attack.

The PRNigeria gathered that the incident occurred during the early Morning Subhi Prayer at a mosque behind Magistrate Court Polo Area in Maiduguri.

The agency said “the explosion was carried out by a suspected lone suicide bomber whose two accomplices escaped, when some vigilant members of the community accosted them on their suspicious movements”.

It quoted a senior health official as confirming that six bodies had been deposited in the mortuary, while about 17 other injured victims were being treated at the Specialist Hospital and the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

Senate shifts ministerial screening to October 27

The Nigerian Senate has shifted further screening of ministerial nominees to Tuesday, October 27, when it resumes for plenary.
This is just as the Senate finally screened former Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers); former Speaker, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Heineken Lopkobiri (Bayelsa); Claudius Omoyele Daramola (Ondo); Baba Shehun Mustapha (Bornu) and Ocholi Enojo James (Kogi).
This development has further put on hold the screening of former Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Isaac Adewole, a ministerial nominee from Osun State, who was earlier billed to be screened today.

Bride proves she's a virgin to pastor father with a doctor's certificate on wedding day

A bride sparked outrage after presenting her father with a gynaecologist signed 'certificate of purity' on her wedding day to prove she was a virgin.

Brelyn Freeman gave the framed document to her proud dad, who is a pastor, after walking down the aisle to marry gospel singer Tim Bowman, Jr.

The certificate, given out at the wedding reception in front of guests, stated her ‘hymen is intact’ as well as citing a passage from the Bible.

Detailing her decision the new Mrs Bowman wrote on Instagram: “If one person has made a decision to wait until marriage or decide to stop & wait we have done our job.
“I was able to present a certificate of purity to [my father] signed by my doctor that my hymen was still intact.
“Also the covenant he gave me when I was 13.
"When you honour God, your life will automatically honour others.
“I love you daddy."
She signed off: “Let’s make Jesus famous!”.
Mrs Bowman gave to her father pastor Michael Freeman of the Faith Christian Church in Maryland the document, signed by her gynaecologist and herself, on October 10.

Afterwards Pastor Freeman said: “I was totally unaware of what was about to take place. During the remarks, she shared that she wanted to honour me by not allowing any man to touch her before her husband.”

He added all of his children had vowed they would save themselves for marriage, with his eldest daughter Brittany presenting him with a similar document at her wedding six years ago.

His son however was unable to abstain from sex before marriage.

The move led to criticism online with many finding it odd the bride shared intimate details of her sex life with her father and guests at the wedding.
