Majek Fashek opens up on his time in rehab

Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly called Majek Fashek, has opened up on his recent experience at rehab.
Recall that the legendary musician, had for several months, been confined to an Abuja rehabilitation home, Synapse Services-Centre For Psychological Medicine.
However, the Rainmaker, who recently came out of rehab, in a chat with journalists said he is happy to be among the living.

“To fully explain what the rehab was to me, I have a song titled, a living dog is better than a dead lion. It captures how I feel. I give thanks to the Most High for where I am today,” he said.
According to him, it was not just rehab, but alcohol detox as well.
“For me, it was an opportunity to dry out. They say recovering addicts return from rehab dry, but, somehow, after a month or a year they go back to their old habit but I must say I have been vilified. I have heard people say all sorts of things about me, but I need people to understand that stress can make anyone do anything. It is true that I have an addiction, but I trust that I will be fine,” Majek added.
Speaking further, the legend said he was addicted to alcohol, cigarettes, and weed.
The father of three said when he was growing up, he neither smoked nor drank.
“Growing up, I never tasted alcohol or smoke but you know, it is actually part of the lifestyle of a performing musician.”
According to him, “You must be high. But now, I am working on an alternative form of inspiration. And I am not the only one. In many genres of music, from reggae to rock, one needs to be high to play some rock songs.”
When asked if he thinks musicians need to be under the influence of some substance to perform, Majek noted: “For certain genres of music, you must be high, like highlife, rock music, reggae. For a man like Bob Marley to maintain that level, it must not have been easy. But I have calmed down, and will find a way.”
On how he thinks he will be able to compose or perform without using substances as a song writer and singer, he said, “Now I am cold, very cold. I will try to do music without using drugs.
Speaking further, Majek urged upcoming acts to desist from drugs and women.
He said, “If you want to go far in music, as an upcoming act, don’t womanise. Stay away from hard drugs and too much alcohol.”
In a thankful tone, Majek appreciated all those who prayed for him and wished him well while in rehab.
He said, “It is one thing to go into rehab and another to come out.
“The doctors gave me first class treatment, but God healed me, and I give him the credit. Only God and the Lord Jesus Christ can deliver.
“The good thing about rehab for me is that it helped to right my image,” the music star added.

My celebrity crush? That will be Davido, because for me he is hardworking. Over the years he has been able to prove himself that he is talented and not all about being a rich kid and I think he is cute too
She continued,
Cool, but because I am crushing on him doesn’t mean I want to have a relationship with him. But if he says: ’Oh my God! I love you.’ We can work something out

Obasanjo opens up on car accident that almost claimed his life

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Tuesday depart Abuja for New Delhi to participate in the third summit of the India-Africa Forum on climate change and international terrorism.

According to the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, in a statement on Sunday, the summit would open on Thursday.
He further disclosed that Buhari, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other participating Heads of State and Government at this year’s summit, would deliberate on issues currently of common concern to their countries such as climate change and international terrorism.
Adesina, said the President is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Modi and other senior senior Indian government officials on Wednesday ahead of the opening of the summit, adding that he will also meet with chief executive officers of Indian companies with existing or prospective interests in Nigeria before returning to Abuja on Friday.
He said Buhari would be accompanied to New Delhi by the governors of Kano and Delta States, National Security Adviser Major-General Babagana Monguno (rtd) as well as the permanent secretaries in the Ministries of Defence, Power, Communications Technology, Agriculture, Foreign Affairs and Industry, Trade and Investment.
The Forum was established in 2008 as the official platform for the advancement of mutually-beneficial relations between India and African nations. The last summit of the Forum was held in Addis Ababa in 2011.
