The Acting Governor of Taraba state Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danladi has declared curfew in the state from 7 pm on Monday to 6pm on Tuesday.
The curfew was put in place following the post election violent that occurred in the state after the declaration that the state’s governorship election was inconclusive. The development was communicated via a press statement signed by the acting governor on Monday.
INEC had declared the governorship election in Taraba inconclusive stating that, Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 317,198 votes while Aisha Alhassan of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 262,386 votes.
The total number of cancelled votes stood at 127,125 which according to INEC, exceeds the marginal difference of 54,812 votes between the scores of the PDP and APC candidates.
So, the re-run election between the two leading candidates would be held within 30 days in the areas where votes were cancelled.
