Bruce Jenner Sued For Wrongful Death In Fatal February Car Crash

Bruce Jenner is anything but in the clear after the fatal Malibu car crash that killed Kim Howe earlier this year. The deceased woman's stepchildren are suing the reality star in a wrongful death lawsuit, reportsTMZ

The two stepchildren are claiming the Olympian was "careless and negligent" when he crashed into Howe's Lexus which caused the car to veer into oncoming traffic where she was hit and killed by a Hummer on Feb. 7. The outlet also reported that law enforcement sources have video of the crash that proves Bruce was inattentive behind the wheel.

Interestingly enough, the outlet is also reporting that Howe's stepchildren had almost no relationship with her.

Howe herself had no children and no immediate relatives. However, her husband, who died in 2003, had two children from a previous relationship. Despite claims that the step children and Howe had no relationship, stepchildren do have legal standing to sue for wrongful death even if they are estranged from a stepparent, according to California law.

Howe's stepchildren will not inherit her property. The trust she set up leaves millions to charity and in her will it states that $55k will go to various animal charities, including, PETA, Lange Foundation, PAWS (Performing Animal Welfare Society), Doris Day Animal League and The Elephant Sanctuary of Tennessee.

The Police are still investigating the fatal incident. After the investigation concludes, the file will be sent over to the L.A. County D.A. for possible prosecution, however, there are reports that it's unlikely Bruce will be prosecuted.

Hundreds of workers in Lagos state today, May 1, 2015, gathered at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos Island with the governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola for the celebration of this year’s Workers’ Day.

The governor who addressed the workers, warned that except Nigerians unite with a sincerity of purpose to fight the current insecurity, the challenges would continue to grow until the nation is overwhelmed.
Below are pictures from the event.

May Day: Buhari Heart Warming Message To Nigerian Workers

Muhammadu Buhari, the president-elect, in his May Day message expressed admiration to the Nigerian working class that sacrificed a lot in the face of tough economic times.

The APC politician said he was fully aware of the workers’ hardships substantially compounded by poor governance and corruption, Nigerian Times reports.
He lamented over the state of the working class in the country, rich in oil sources, saying that a few corrupt officials were making fortune at the expense of people.
Buhari also said it was unfair that honest labour had been relegated to the background. He added that replacing honesty by quick wealth gain would never bring progress and prosperity to the nation.
Having the stated the problems and challenges, the president-elect reiterated the incoming government’s commitment to boosting the morale of the Nigerian workers to increase people’s productivity and their income.
He urged the Nigerian workers to cooperate with the new administration in the fight against corruption which he called the greatest enemy of achievements.

Lagosians Groan As Petrol Sells For N300 Per Liter

Following the refusal by oil marketers to import fuel into Nigeria, petrol station owners seems to be cashing in on the situation on ground with petrol selling for as high as N300 per litre in Ejigbo area of Lagos state.

At other filling stations petrol sold for N200 and N15o respectively. With long queues at the few petrol stations opened consumers were ready to buy fuel at any amount available to them.
“This is really ridiculous. How can we celebrate May Day without electricity and petrol. I cannot enjoy the day with my family because there is no power. The federal government should settle with the oil marketers before things go out of hand,” a consumer, Adekunle Adewale told PM News.
Another aggrieved buyer blamed the scarcity on the federal government, stating that, it was a calculated attempt to frustrate the incoming government.

On LASU-Isheri expressway most of the filling stations were shut. But those opened like Petrocam, Total and FAWA forced long queues on motorists who could not get pass vehicles trying to get fuel.
In Sango Ota, only NNPC opened on Thursday but fuel is been sold in the black market with 5 litres costing between N2,000 and N2,500.
Tell us what the fuel situation is like in your area.

US Based Nigerian Nurse Arrested After Killing Baby With Boiling Water

The killing of a 22-month-old girl from a bath so scalding-hot the child’s skin peeled off, police said.

A cold-hearted Queens nurse was nabbed Wednesday as she was about to board a plane out of the country and leave behind her horrific crime

It was the second day that Oluyemisi Adebayo, 54, was caring for Naomi Mondesire at the child’s home on Memphis Ave. near 145th Ave. in Rosedale. The premature toddler was born at just 25 weeks and needed a tracheotomy tube to breathe. Naomi spent her first year in the hospital, her grandmother said, and still needed to be fed through a tube.

Around 7:25 p.m. on Saturday, Adebayo, a licensed practical nurse, submerged little Naomi in water so hot that it actually burned pieces of skin off the child, according to authorities. The young girl died Monday.
“She couldn’t even scream,” said Naomi’s grandmother Gardite Mondesire, 54, who was at a nearby library when a tenant called her with the terrible news.
“When I got home, my tenant was running around picking up pieces of skin. It was all over the floor. It was all over the tub," she said.
Mondesire called Adebayo and asked her what happened. “She said ‘It’s bad. I did something bad. The baby got burned,’” Mondesire said. “But she said she didn’t know how.”
Adebayo was arrested around 7a.m. Wednesday at Kennedy Airport as she tried to board a flight for Nigeria, where she is from, authorities said. She was charged with murder.

The toddler was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center with second- and third-degree burns on more than 50% of her body, according to officials.

“She’s claiming it was a mistake,” said 35-year-old Corey Brock, Naomi’s father. “It’s impossible. She knows what she did because she was trying to flee the country.”
Adebayo told cops she had placed her hand in the water before putting Naomi into the bath and only realized the dangerous temperature when she took the toddler out and saw the skin on her legs peeling off, according to the Queens DA’s office.

But medical workers later told investigators the nature of the injuries did not fit with Adebayo’s account, and that the child was likely submerged waist-deep in 130-degree water for 30 seconds, according to officials.

Authorities believe that Adebayo intentionally put the child in the dangerously hot water, although her motive was unclear.

Helen Paul: I’m Disappointed by Buhari’s Statement on Chibok Girls Rescue

Read her piece as published on The Trent below:
The comedian and mother of two Helen Paul, writes down her views and disappointment in President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari recent statement that he cannot guarantee the safe return of the kidnapped Chibok girls..
Hmmm… it’s one year and some days now since the Chibok girls have been missing. Yet, the days are still counting because we have no clue about their whereabouts.
This is a very sad development indeed. No doubt, it was a disappointment that the outgoing government failed to locate and rescue the girls from the hands of their Boko Haram abductors.
As a mother, who knows what the pains of child labour and child upbringing are all about, I heaved a sigh of relief when Muhammadu Buhari emerged winner of the presidential election. It was not because I like him more than Jonathan, but because I listened to one of his campaigns, where he promised to bring back the girls if elected into office.
Perhaps, Nigerians elected him on that premise.
I feel that, at least, it will be a great achievement for whoever locates and brings back the girls to their respective families. In fact, whoever achieves that will be celebrated as a hero all over the world. But then, I have seen another reason to believe that all politicians are the same.
Their modus operandi may only be different. A few days ago, exactly when it clocked one year that the girls had been missing, Buhari broke my heart, just like that of other Nigerians when he said his government could not promise to bring back the girls! I felt really devastated because that comment was a sharp contrast to the promises he made to all Nigerians and the world at large during his campaigns.
Honestly, I try not to be disappointed because you can always expect anything from Nigerians, politicians in particular. They can promise heaven on earth during campaigns, but the moment they get to power, they promptly renege on their promises. Such is life in this part of the world where we find ourselves.
I tried to put myself in the shoes of the parents, relatives and neighbours of the missing girls, who, perhaps, solicited votes for the retired General after hearing his campaign promise that he would bring back the girls. How will they feel now hearing him say something to the contrary?
There is an adage in Yoruba that says ‘ omo eni ku san ju omo eni sonu lo,’ meaning that it is better for someone’s child to die than to be missing. I can imagine the different thoughts and imaginations that would have saddled the minds of
those girls’ parents. If the girls are dead (which I don’t pray for anyway), the parents will mourn for sometime and recover, but that they are missing is another experience entirely.

Survivor of deadly disease killing people in Ondo tells his story

The management of the University College Hospital (UCH), on Thursday described the recent mysterious deaths in Ode Irele, Ondo State, as a result of methanol contained in the local gin taken by the victims in the area.
One of the survivors of the Ode-Irele methanol poisoning, Mr. Olorunwa Jero, has recounted his ordeal in the throes of death.
Jero, a father of six, who is a vulcanizer, narrated his story thus:
“By the time I was brought here, I had gone blind. I could not identify my wife, I could not identify anything. I did not even know when I arrived here.“But I thank God and the management and staff of University College Hospital, UCH, for bailing me out. I can see all of you here clearly. I can even identify the clothes each one of you is putting on.”
The victims were said to have taken the methanol while consuming a local gin.

Confirming that the toxin was detected in the blood and urine of the victims, Professor Temitope Alonge, Chief Medical Director, UCH, said the five victims were transferred to the teaching hospital on April 18 adding that they had regained their lost sight as a result of taking the chemical.Alonge, who said this while speaking with newsmen in Ibadan, warned people to be wary of taking local gin so as to avoid similar unpleasant experience.
