There’s cause for celebration in Nigeria as it marks one year without a single recorded case of the dreaded polio virus.
This means Nigeria can now be taken off the list of countries where the disease is endemic, once the World Health Organization (WHO) confirms the results.
This is part of world wide progress to eradicate the disease and only Pakistan and Afghanistan recorded cases in 2015.
Global health experts are hoping polio can become only the second human infectious disease to be eradicated, after smallpox.
