Indian Bride Ditches Groom After He Flubs Math Test at Their Wedding

A bride in India walked away from her wedding minutes before she was due to marry because the groom could not add up.
Relatives of the couple had gathered together at the wedding venue and preparations had begun in Kanpur Dehat, in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh.
But the bride was suspicious of groom Ram Baran's apparent qualifications and her cousin tested him out with the question: What is 15 plus six?
He replied: "17". The answer, in case you're having a tough day, is 21.
That, as far as the bride was concerned, was that.
She left the scene just when as the wedding was about to be solemnised, saying she could not marry an uneducated person.
Her father Mohar Singh said: "Any class one student must be able to solve the simple problem asked by us.
"The family of the groom had kept us in the dark about the youth's qualifications. It was a very embarrassing situation for all of us as we had come with all preparations and it was a matter of social prestige as well. We have been cheated."
The groom's family tried to persuade her into going ahead with the ceremony but she would not agree.
Eventually, local police were brought in to mediate and presents and jewellery that had been exchanged before the wedding were all returned.

I gave my life to Christ when I was 15 years and I used to preach inside ‘molue’ - Omotola Jalade

Screen goddess and Nollywood star Omotola Jalade Ekeinde is the cover star of TW Magazine’s latest issue.

She talked mostly about her personal take on some issues such as religion, infidelity, getting married as a teenager, as well as her 20 years in the movie industry, and more.

Read excerpts from her interview below.
On her dreams in Nollywood: We were coming from a place where it was disgraceful to be an actor. My first plan was to earn money to help my brothers. When I achieved that, my dream was to make this job a success so much that people would respect me and I would be proud of myself. It was just to earn the respect of Nigerians.
On people seeing her as headstrong and arrogant: I realized I was different and it made me a target. A long time ago, when it was not popular to do so, I demanded that they pack my food on set. And they said I was proud. I tried to fit in, in the past, but after a while I feel I don’t have to be apologetic. I asked, ‘Why am I too fast?’ God told me, if that is how I made you, then don’t apologise for it. I have always demanded high standards, I have realized that I have the grace and energy to do it. But people do not understand the whole purpose until I am done.
On her husband: I am favoured. He trusts my decisions. He knows I am not irresponsible even if I say so myself. I consider every decision carefully. He may have reservations but that is human, and that is not going to be a deal breaker.
On infidelity: Men cheat for different reasons and women cheat for different reasons. For women, it usually happens when the spouse does not show care and love. It is not really the money. I don’t lack care; how much can you possibly give me more than what I already have? Also, you have to think about what you are going lose; your home, respect and integrity. When a woman cheats, then she really wants to cheat and it will be quite difficult to catch her at it because women are good planners.
On her religious beliefs: I gave my life to Christ when I was 15 years and I used to preach inside ‘molue’. It is important that you find Christ and find him early. It is for your good. The fact that I found Christ early helped me to be focused. I always rely on God for direction (even when I wanted to get married), I just have to find peace with it and then go for it. I really did not indulge in those things that could have exposed me because I wasn’t interested. I don’t like clubbing. Even when I was single, you would have to pay me to go clubbing.
On her music career: I finished my second album since 2010 but it is not yet out contrary to insinuations. I am not trying to be a Tiwa Savage. My career is like a Barbara Streisand kind of career. I said I would bring out an album every five years. The next step for me is to have my own entertainment place where you can listen to my music, watch my movies and experience everything about Omotola.
On the next 20 years: In the next 20 years, I am hoping that I will be alive and God will grant me good health. I hope to be a sexy grandmother as well.

ISIS accept pledge of allegiance from Boko Haram

Boko Haram have now join forces with foreign terrorist group, ISIS.
A recording was released earlier today, after Boko Haram’s initial request.

ISIS has accepted a pledge of allegiance from Nigerian terrorists Boko Haram who killed 10,000 people in the country last year.
The audio message entitled 'kill and be killed' and released through the militants' vast social media channels was allegedly read by an ISIS spokesperson.
As well as welcoming Boko Haram's loyalty, the speech also threatens further violence against Christian and Jewish communities according to News Week.
Speaking for his leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the man in the recording says: 'We announce to you to the good news of the expansion of the caliphate to West Africa.
'Our caliph has accepted the pledge of loyalty of our brothers of Boko Haram so we congratulate Muslims and our jihadi brothers in West Africa.'
He urged Muslims who could not join the fight in Syria to enter the conflict in Africa instead.

Star athlete, Blessing Okagbare slams GEJ campaign group over unauthorized use of her image

Olympic and World Championships medalist, Blessing Okagbare has cautioned a pro-Goodluck Jonathan group, GoodHouse Nigeria, from using her image and footage(in an advertorial tagged GEJ Okagbare) without seeking her consent. Making her displeasure known via Twitter from her base in Los Angeles, USA, Okagbare said,
“I just wanted to be patient at first, but my agent is not happy because he thinks I am a woman and very far from home too.  Someone out there is using my image, footage and everything I have worked for to make money through advert and campaign without seeking my approval. If an advert is being made with my footage and I am not aware of it, it shows how some of my countrymen back home can be so selfish, disrespecting and have no regard for people’s privacy.”
“Now, I am here struggling on my own to pay my coach, nutritionist, doctor and others to make sure I am in good shape for the All African Games and the IAAF World Championship in Beijing, China, later in the year, and some people back home are using my image and footage for presidential campaign advertorial without seeking for my approval. This is fraudulent because I am totally not in support of it. We called the people (GoodHouse Nigeria) and they denied using my image and footage for PDP presidential advertorial. Who did it then? Why are they lying?”

Chimamanda Adichie reveals she sometimes suffer from depression

Award winning novelist, Chimamanda Adichie has just made a startling revelation that she suffers depression from time to time in an exclusive interview with Olisa.tv.
The 38-year old Americanah author revealed that depression is a thing she has battled since her childhood days:
‘I have actually always been quite open about having depression. By depression, I don’t mean  being sad. I mean a health condition that comes from time to time and has different symptoms and is very debilitating. I’ve mentioned it publicly in the past, but I have always wanted to write about it. I was meeting many people who I could tell were also depressive, and I was noticing how hush-hush it all was, how there was often a veil of silence over it, and I think the terrible consequence of silence is shame.’
‘Depression is difficult. It is difficult to experience, difficult to write about, difficult to be open about. But I wanted to do it. For myself, in a way, because it forced me to tell myself my own story, which can be helpful. But also for other possible sufferers, especially fellow Africans, because there is something very powerful about knowing that you are not alone, and that what happens to you also happens to other people.
‘Depression is something I have recognized since I was a child. It is something I have accepted. It is something I will have to find ways to manage for the rest of my life. Many creative people have depression. I wonder if I would be so drawn to storytelling if I were not also a person who suffers from depression.’

Katty Griffin Follows In Kelly Osbourne's Footstep; Also Quits Fashion Police

Weeks after Kelly Osbourne's Fashion Police departure was announced, Kathy Griffin revealed she was quitting the show too.

The host who replaced late Joan Rivers on the series, made the announcement via a lengthy Twitter statement on Thursday.
"When I chose to step into the shoes of my beloved friend Joan Rivers at Fashion Police, I was thrilled to continue her legacy as a woman being brash and eccentric on television," she tweeted Thursday. "I am a freedom-loving female and gay rights activist who loves to find the funny in all people, attitudes, beliefs and appearances, but only when the context permits intelligent humor."
"I thought that I could bring my brand of humor to Fashion Police so beautiful people in beautiful dresses could be teased when appropriate," she continued. "I do not want to use my comedy to contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance towards difference. I want to help women, gay kids, people of color, and anyone who feels underrepresented to have a voice and a LAUGH."

The comedian added that she didn't feel like her comedic stylings were "the right fit" for the creative direction of Fashion Police, and decided "now it's time to move on."

E! also confirmed Kathy's exit, saying in a statement, "We can confirm that Kathy Griffin is leaving E!'sFashion Police. We wish her all the best and are grateful for her time on the show, as well as the many laughs that she gave us all. Fashion Police will return, as scheduled, on Monday, March 30, at 9 p.m. with our talented co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski, and executive producer Melissa Rivers."

E! announced Feb. 27 that Kelly was leaving Fashion Police to "pursue other opportunities." After weeks of silence, Kelly finally spoke out about her departure on The Talk Tuesday, saying, "It was the five best working years of my life. I'm so grateful for the experience."
