Jude Okoye Joins In Soundcity/Psquare Drama

Psquare, with the help of their spokesperson, Peter Okoye, went all out on terrestrial/cable music channel, Soundcity, on Thursday, explaining why they don’t play their music videos to the fans.

Soundcity replied the rant saying they chose not to air the videos over irreconcilable childish differences.
Well the back and forth continues as Jude, comes out to respond, once again, to Soundcity.
Grab your popcorns and wine glasses.
"Pls u make a living playing our videos that runs into millions in cost. You don't pay royalties, we(artistes and labels) don't complain.
And you think you doing artists favour? Psquare played ALL Soundcity Blast from inception for FREE.
My job is to make videos. @Soundcitytv job is to play it. As u reserve right to play which videos, so do we artistes and labels on weather to perform for you for free or not.
You can keep blackmailing and threatening other acts. NOT Psquare.
Other reputable channels have no problems taking care of artist logistics for the event."
All these, he said in a series of tweets. Now let's wait and see if Soundcity replies.

UNICAL Professor suspended over alleged rape of student

The Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Prof. Cyril Ndifon, who was accused of raping a 20-year-old 400-level student in his office, was suspended on Thursday.
Professor Ndifon was briefly arrested and detained by the police, and later released on Wednesday before he was suspended yesterday evening by the panel set up to investigate him.
The mother of the victim, Irene Akpan, alleged that the incident happened between 3 and 5pm on August 29 at the dean’s private office on the top floor of the faculty building.
According to the lady, Professor Ndifon forcibly had sex with her daughter after a fierce struggle.
The school authorities confirmed receipt of complaints from the victim, while the police also affirmed it but was quick to add that the matter was undergoing thorough investigation.

Nigerian Governors Reject Death Penalty For Looters

According Punch, some of their correspondents reached out to some State Governors to hear their views on the suggestion of the Labour Union that any Government official found guilty of corruption should be killed and their responses aren’t shocking anyway. Most of them said it is not right to take a life, but life imprisonment will be a better option. Hear Amosun's view, Fayose, Wike, Aregbesola, Mimiko, and a lot of other Governors too all after the cut.

Ogun State Governor, Amosun:

“Everybody knows President Muhammadu Buhari is transparent and meants well for the nation and would never want to hear anything about corruption.

“Even under 100 days in office, electricity is improving. People know that if you try it you are gone. I always say this, whether you are a governor, permanent secretary or labour leader, you cannot be corrupt under a leader that is not corrupt, because you will be punished.

“Unfortunately as a governor, I cannot be saying that capital punishment should be meted out to corrupt public officials. Because I cannot say that, that is why I will say that anybody that is found wanting, whether you are governor or any other public officer should be jailed for life.”

According to the Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, who spoke through the Director of Press Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel Nanle, says;

“In all his discussions, Lalong has never mentioned death sentence. He has always preferred life imprisonment to taking human life because to him life is sacred.”

Ekiti Governor, Ayodele Fayose, who reacted through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, said jail sentence was better and capable of reforming thieves.

“In countries where death penalty was introduced, it has not stopped looting. In advanced countries like US, jail sentence is the penalty. What we need is proper moral education to change orientation of the people. Jail sentence is better; it can reform,” he told one of our correspondents in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

Rivers State Governor, Wike Nyeson through his special adviser on media, Opunabo Inko-Tariah said;

“Nigerians have a role to play by deriding looters and not to praise them for their fiscal irresponsibility. There should be a strong punitive measure to discourage looting because of its domino effects. When a treasury is looted, there won’t be money for the provision of necessities such as hospitals, roads, etc.

“Maybe because it happened in Ghana and the economy improved, the labour organisations want it in Nigeria. But that was a military regime and Jerry Rawlings was a military man. However, the extant laws on looting need serious and urgent review, even if the death penalty is discouraged.”

Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State through his information commissioner, Kayode Akinmade said;

“We are not under a military rule; this is democracy and we have constitution that we follow. If it is put in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, irrespective of whether you are a governor or not, so be it. If that is what Nigerians want, it is okay.

“Everybody is against corruption, but there is a process of making law. Thank God we have a National Assembly and the state assemblies who are representative of the people. If such bill could be sent to the national and state assemblies and be passed into law, it must become a law.

“If the process is followed and it is the wish of Nigerians that looters be killed, why not? Let it become a law. It is a fact that Nigerians are not happy with this corruption tag, which has slowed down our economic development but if we have a law that will bring about capital punishment for the looters, it is okay.”

While Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State declined comment on whether looters should be sentenced to death or not.

In Enugu State the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Mr. Louis Amoke, said he would need to consult his principal, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, to get his position on the matter.

“I will have to get in touch with him to know his position on the matter, it is very sensitive and I will not talk without finding out from him,” Amoke said.

The Governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Al-Makura, however, said he supported that capital punishment be meted out to corrupt public office holders.

“I really agree with the NLC over call for capital punishment for any public office holder who is found guilty of looting public funds,” he said.

There you have it people.

John Gibson, A popular US pastor commits suicide after adultery website exposes him

A popular United States pastor has committed suicide six days after his name was exposed by hackers of the Ashley Madison adultery website.
Canadian police has said that at least two suicides were linked to the leak of 32 million customer profiles from the Canada-based site last month.
Christi Gibson discovered her husband’s body — and a suicide note which chronicled his demons and his shame at being exposed — in their New Orleans home on August 24.

“He talked about depression. He talked about having his name on there, and he said he was just very, very sorry,”Gibson told CNN on Wednesday.
“Nothing is worth the loss of a father and a husband and a friend. It just didn’t merit it. It didn’t merit it at all.”
Gibson said her husband, who had struggled with depression and addiction in the past, was worried that he would
lose his job.
“It wasn’t so bad that we wouldn’t have forgiven it, and so many people have said that to us, but for John, it carried such a shame,” she told CNN.
“What we know about him is that he poured his life into other people, and he offered grace and mercy and forgiveness to everyone else, but somehow he couldn’t extend that to himself.”

Sex and masturbation can hamper Ebola eradication efforts – WHO

The World Health Organization, WHO, has advised all male survivors of Ebola to be tested three months after the onset of symptoms and then monthly until they know they have no risk of passing on the virus through their semen.
Bruce Aylward, Head of the WHO’s Ebola Response, said on Thursday in Geneva that isolated flare-ups of Ebola may point to a higher risk of transmission via the semen of male survivors than previously thought.
“It’s not the sex that is dangerous; it’s the semen that is dangerous. How people actually get exposed, in soiled linens or whatever, is not clear.
“Transmission through semen may explain why a few cases continue to occur even though the outbreak has been almost completely eradicated by an intense international effort, recently bolstered by the deployment of a trial vaccine in Guinea and Sierra Leone,’’ he said.
Aylward said the latest flare-up, in a village on the northern border of Sierra Leone, followed the death of a 67-year-old woman late last month, 50 days after the previous confirmed case in the region.
He said transmission chains were considered to have been broken after 42 days with no new infections.
However, Aylward said that sexual transmission was “obviously not a huge risk, because if it were we would have seen a lot more in the areas that were hardest hit at the beginning of this outbreak.”

All You Need To Know About The SoundcityTv And Psquare Beef…Soundcity releases statement

Yesterday, a P-Square fan tweeted atPeter Okoye asking why the duo’s music videos were not being aired onSoundcity TV, in response to the question, Peter tweeted back telling the fan, “Don’t waste your time; they will not play our songs. He tweeted another saying, “Ignore that channel please and keep watching us on great reliable channels and other terrestrial channels like Trace TV, Mtvbase, Hip TV and Afropop.“Thanks for the love,” Peter added.
See his tweets below:
P-Square-OnoBello (2)P-Square-OnoBello (3)P-Square-OnoBello (4)
In response to Peter’s tweets the TV station has released a statement saying that despite its support for the duo, they turned down their invitation for a concert, the reason Soundcity has resolved to suspend playing their videos, saying their partnership with the duo was not mutual, but one-sided.

Here’s the statement below:
“Dear fans, we see your complaints about the absence of our videos on @SOUNDCITYtv, just to clear the air, they refused to play us.
While we understand that this is business, there is also room for special consideration. Saying our TV brand has never done anything for P-Square was quite damning. Clearly, there was no need to argue with their decision and reasoning. We assumed our relationship was a mutually beneficial one, but clearly one-sided.
We have assisted the P-Square brand, toured with them over Africa at our expense, gave them ad-spots for their events/ projects, gave them prime time slots for their videos and included them in our array of Programmes /Programming.
For 10 Years, Soundcitytv has been a huge supporter of P-Square and the P-Square brand, right from their 1st music video to the last video released in 2014. Most of their videos got massive airplay on Soundcitytv than any other music channel.
We decided to stop ‘doing anything’ with/for P-Square, since our 10 years of supporting the group meant nothing to them.
Viewers sometimes complain about the dominance of P-Square videos on the channel & charts. We were a huge supporter and gave everything to their works.
SoundcityTV will keep airing works of the best and upcoming Nigerian artistes, and also, the best #African artistes to the world, especially nurturing their talents from inception till they become huge megastars and international superstars.
Soundcitytv reserves the right to air which ever music videos we please on our cable/satellite or terrestrial platforms.”
Thanks.
