Instagram Names Snoop Dogg Most Active Celebrity User

Popular social media and photo-sharing site, Instagram has named Snoop Dogg, as the most active celebrity user of the site.

According to reports, the 43-year-old rap star, posted more photos than any other famous person currently using the site, including selfie queens, Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton.

Reports also revealed that, he posted more references to drugs and alcohol.

Top Designer, Kumbi Shares Her Experience With Robbers In Lagos

Top designer, Olakumbi Oyelese who is the brain behind April by Kumbi was recently robbed in broad daylight, on her way from work in the CMS area of Lagos.
Thankfully she's alive to tell the story. The incident occurred on January 8, 2015 between 3 and 4pm.

Hear her; "‘Sooo I wasn’t going to put this out here but I spoke to a few people recently that have had or heard of a similar experience.

‘Years ago we felt safe enough driving in Lagos as long as your windows were up and you’re locked in the car… Even the people with no ac in their cars would sweat it out, literally.

‘The picture above was an attack/robbery that happened to me in broad day light last week Thursday (8th January). Going home via CMS area, there was heavy traffic due to the campaign. I didn’t really mind as I had someone driving… All of a sudden I saw people running so I knew for sure something was happening ahead… Checked to make sure my doors were locked. Next thing I see is bunch of thugs going to car windows, my driver asked me to keep my iPad and threw my bag to the back. He hadn’t even finished saying “they are robbing” before one of the thugs started banging the driver’s window demanding for money…he cracked the glass open a little and quickly gave him N500… Then he started demanding for phones, more money. By this time there were 2 of them by my side banging at my window, asking me for my phones and my bag. Next thing I hear is glass shattering and I see the thug holding a cutlass, he leans in to grab the drivers phone (he was charging it) and was reaching for my bag. I honestly don’t know HOW my car got on the curb as there was no where else to turn to..But thank God we escaped, saw bags littered all over the ground.. Vandalized cars parked with no one inside…. My drivers hand bleeding.. Brings me to the point of this long story… We are not safe, no one is Safe. Either we accept it or not, Nigeria is in trouble! To think that was child’s play compared to what people are going through in the North is terrifying.

‘There was a time poverty was our only big problem, I strongly believe even the less privileged people will take being safe over anything right now.
The numbers are disturbing! 20,200,500,2000!!! Killed in cold blood all because of what exactly?? Power? Religion?

‘I love Nigeria.. No matter where I go I always miss home. How do we take our Nigeria back?? I want to be able to drive at night with my windows Down!’

What a sad experience!

“Just saw this body on my way to work, this incident must have happened late hours of yesterday. I believe the politicians are at it again. 15 Killed, 7 Captured As Soldiers Repel Boko Haram Attack In Bui

15 insurgents, believed to be Chadian nationals have been killed by Nigerian troops, while 7 were also captured alive.

On Wednesday, January 14, Boko Haram insurgents launched an attack on a military checkpoint near the Army Barracks in Biu Local Government Area of Borno state.

The insurgents reportedly came through the Garkida-Yimirshika-Biu road and attempted to invade the Military barracks situated along the road before the soldiers engaged them in gun battle.

A resident of Biu, said he counted 15 corpses of the Chadians in front of the military barrack.

The number of Boko Haram members killed in the crossfire is yet to be ascertained.

Nigerian Police Says Only Suicide Bomber Died In Gombe Blast

Sequel to suicide attack which took place yesterday in Gombe State, Nigerian police said only the suicide bomber died in the yesterday’s attack.

It was reported yesterday with reference to different sources that 3 people were killed as the bomber blew himself up.

Gombe police spokesperson, Fwaje Atajiri, argued however that only the assaulter died adding that he had targeted worshippers observing the sunset prayer at a mosque in the area.

“He died from the blast and his efforts were frustrated by the adequate security arrangements put in place to secure the state."

Angelina Jolie Also Lends Her Voice On Boko Haram Killings

Hollywood actress and United Nations ambassador, Angelina Jolie have also joined Nicki Minaj and Solange Knowles to lend her voice, by condemning the recent attack by the Boko Haram insurgents on Baga, Borno state.

In a statement signed yesterday, January 13th, Jolie stressed the need for the Boko Haram activities to be crippled in Nigeria.

"Each new crime committed by Boko Haram exceeds the last in brutality. This is a direct consequence of the environment of total impunity in which Boko Haram operates. Every time they get away with mass murder, rape and the enslavement of women and children, they are emboldened."

INEC Releases List Of Presidential & VP Candidates For 2015 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), has released the names of 14 presidential candidates and their running mates for the 2015 general elections.

The candidates are Sen. Tunde Anifowose-Kelani as the presidential candidate of Accord Alliance (AA) and Ishaka Paul as his running mate, Rufus Salawu as Presidential Candidate of AD and Akuchie Clif as his vice president.

Also published on the commission website were Alhaji Ganiyu Galadima andOjengbede Farida as the presidential and vice president of ACPN, as well as Mani Ahmad and Obianuju Murphy-Uzohue as president and vice president for ADC.

Others are Ayeni Adebayo as president andAnthony ologbosere, female for APA,Muhammadu Buhari and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as president and vice president for APC, while CPC has Sam Eke as its presidential candidate and Hassana Hassanas vice president.

The Hope Party has High Ambrose Owuruand Alhaji Haruna Shaba as president and vice president, while KOWA party hasComfort Sonaiya and Alhaji Seidu Bobboias president and vice president.

NCP has Martin Onovo as president andIbrahim Mohammed as vice president, while PDP presidential candidate is  Goodluck Jonathan, and Namadi Sambo as his running mate.

3 feared dead, 21 others injured in Gombe bomb blast

Three people were feared dead, while 21 others sustained various degrees of injuries when a suicide bomber blew up himself near a Mosque at Kasuwan Mata, Gombe, on Tuesday evening.

Personnel of the Nigerian Red Cross Society and other related personnel were seen at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Specialists Hospital, Gombe, trying to rescue victims.

Malam Umar Ahmed, the Disaster Management Coordinator of the Red Cross Society in Gombe State, said that immediately they heard about the blast, the Society mobilised its personnel to rescue the injured persons.

He said all the victims were conveyed to the specialists hospital and were being treated by doctors and other health workers.

A source said the suspected suicide bomber was seen loitering around the area, apparently trying to detonate the explosive.

The source said not quite long when the suspect was sighted; he detonated the bomb which killed him and two other persons.

He added that irate youths who were at the scene set the remains of the suspected suicide bomber ablaze, while those injured were taken to the Specialists Hospital, Gombe for treatment.

When NAN correspondents visited the hospital around 7 p.m., 21 persons who sustained various degrees of injuries were being attended to by doctors.

Again! Boko Haram Takes Over Another Town In Borno

Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly attacked and taken over Askira town in Borno.

Fleeing residents told reporters in Maiduguri on Tuesday, January 13 that, the insurgents stormed the town in a convoy of Toyota Hilux vehicles and motorcycles at about 3:35pm on Monday, January 12.

According to an eyewitness, Yusuf Mohammed, the terrorists who were armed with explosive devices and petrol-bombs, touched several public buildings including a secondary school, the divisional police station and telecoms mast.

Mohammed said; "As we were about to depart the motor park yesterday (Monday) afternoon, we saw some insurgents chanting Allahu Akbar (God is great) in Arabic.”

“They burnt down a school in the town. They did not stop there they proceeded to the police station and a health centre and threw IEDs at the buildings.”

The residents of Askira reportedly fled into the bush and nearby communities, as the terrorists began attacking the town.
Number of casualty is yet to be ascertained.
