The city of Kano was thrown into mourning on Tuesday following the death of 15 teenagers in a boat mishap at Jobowa Village of Kano.
The children who were mostly girls between the ages of 8 and 14, were said to be on a trading mission when their ferry-boat had an encounter with storm and capsized.
According to reports, therewas violent rainstorm on their departure and it was excessive rain that fell on the boat as well as storm that overturned the boat.
The acting Police Relation officer, DSP Mustapha Abubakar confirmed that 15 girls were involved in the boat mishap, adding that 5 had been rescued, while 10 were still missing.
