Thugs Invade Church, Flog Pastor & Steal Offering Money In Akure

Scores of hoodlums yesterday, reportedly invaded the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Pillar of Fire branch in Akure, Ondo state during service, flogged the pastor, Pastor Arije and other church members and cart away with offering money.

The thugs storm the church on motocycles and destoyed items including plastic chairs, wall clock, Window glass, and electrical appliances, while members ran out for safety.

According to eyewitness, the policemen who came to calm the situation arrested some of the thugs but were attacked by the mob, who later rescued the arrested thugs. In the process, a policeman was stabbed on the neck with a broken bottle by one of the hoodlums.

Confirming the attack on the church, the state's PRO, Mr Wole Ogodo said details were still sketchy but the case was under investigation.
