Miss Colombia Paulina Vega, has been crowned Miss Universe, beating first runner-up Misss USA, Nia Sanchez and other 87 beauties representing their various countries.
No African country made it through the first phase.

Paulina Vega is a student of business administration at Barranquilla, Colombia. Miss Colombia was crowned by the outgoing Miss Universe, Gabriela Isler of Venezuela.
Natalie Morales of the Today show hosted the competition. The broadcast included performances by singers Nick Jonas and Prince Royce
