After the recent attacks on his convoy in Katsina and Bauchi states, President Goodluck Jonathan’s convoy was yet again stoned on Thursday, January 29, by some irate youth in Jalingo, Taraba State.
The president was in the city as part of the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential campaign rally.
The youths managed to damage the windscreens and windows of some of the vehicles on the convoy before security operatives used tear gas and horsewhips to disperse them.
According to an eyewitness on the scene, the incident occurred when the President’s convoy was heading to the palace of the Emir of Muri, Abass Tafida, from the airport.
“Security agents ensured that people were moved very far from the main but at a point, the convoy got to a particular village where the youths became restive. Before we knew what was happening, they started stoning the convoy,” a source said.
After the pelting of his convoy, an unperturbed Jonathan was said to have gone to visit Danbaba Suntai, the ailing governor of the state, who was involved in a plane crash in October 2012.
Has it come to that? Please o, no violence, take time to listen to them and ask intelligent questions and show maturity to the world.
