Suicide Bomber Strikes Gombe Church On New Year Day



A suicide bomber blew himself up outside an evangelist church in Gombe, January 1, 2015 injuring several people.
"There was an explosion outside the ECWA church this morning. A suicide bomber who was restrained from getting into the church blew himself up. Luckily, no one was killed but some people were injured" said Abubakar Yakubu, who heads the Nigeria Red Cross in Gombe.

Few hours to the New Year, a female suicide bomber also bombed the military barracks at Ungwar Madaki area of Gombe. She was killed as she tried to enter the barracks and seven people died in a bus explosion.

Soldiers opened fire on the woman when she refused to be searched as she approached the barracks, detonating the explosive vest she was wearing, according to eyewitnesses. 
The woman who was wearing a 'hijab', was killed instantly.
