Nollywood stars, Tonto Dikeh and Desmond Elliot, led the charge on Wednesday February 18, 2015 to sensitize, enlighten, encourage and educate primary and secondary school students in Lagos state on rape.
The event was held at the Adeyemi Bello Hall, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos State
Also present at the sensitization programmer were; Ade Ipaye (Attorney General and Commisioner for Justice Lagos State), Mrs Omotola Rotimi (Director, Office of the Public Defender),Valentina Peter-Nkwo (Mirabel Center), CSP Monday Agbonika, among others.
College Acquaintance Rape Education (C.A.R.E) is a follow up plan for the annual Walk Against Rape Campaign; a special demonstration that brings together mothers, guardians, fathers, teachers youth advocates, activist, faith based organizations, NGO’s, CSO’s, student delegates, actors, actresses, sportsmen and women, media practitioners, musicians, DJs and comedians,- to lend a voice to sexually abused persons in the society and also encourage victims to speak out and reduce the stigmatization attached to rape.
The programme was organised by Rubies Ink Initiative in partnership with the Lagos State Government and the Domestic and Sexual Violence Response team (DSVRT).
