Barcelona attacker, Lionel Messi, banked almost £1million a week last year in wages and sponsorship deals, to become the highest-paid footballer in the world.
The Argentine earned £26m in wages, while his endorsement deals with adidas, FIFA 15 and Turkish Airlines, saw his income rise to £47.8m in 2014.
According to France Football magazine rich list, Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo is second on the list, after picking up £39.7m.
Messi’s team-mate at the Nou Camp comes in third with £26.8m.
Robin van Persie is the highest-ranked Premier League footballer. The Manchester United striker earned £18.8m in 2014.
