South Africa denies deploying Military to Nigeria


The Republic of South Africa yesterday denied reports that its military personnel were dispatched to Nigeria to assist in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgent group.
South African National Defence Force spokesperson, Siphiwe Dlamini, disclosed that any South African citizen fighting against Boko Haram will be regarded as mercenary and might face prosecution for violating the nation’s law.
It had been earlier reported in a cross section of the media that Nigeria has brought in hundreds of mercenaries from South Africa to the northeastern state of Borno to help combat Boko Haram terrorists.
In reaction to this, Dlamini said, “These people are not members of the South African army
