Cissy Houston: Bobbi Kristina Brown Is Not Awake; She Has 'Irreversible Brain Damage

Bobbi Kristina Brown's grandmother, Cissy Houston, revealed on Monday that her granddaughter Bobbi Kristina Brown has "irreversible brain damage."

The mother of the late Whitney Houston spoke out in a statement to PEOPLE after Bobbi Kristina's father, Bobby Brown, 46, told a crowd at a concert in Dallas on Saturday that Bobbi was "awake" and "watching" him perform.
"I have just returned from visiting my granddaughter Bobbi Kristina in the hospital and while she is no longer in a medically induced coma she has a tracheotomy and according to the doctors she has global and irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive."
"Meeting with the doctors and understanding that she can live in this condition for a lifetime truly saddens me. We can only trust in God for a miracle at this time. Keep us in your prayers."
Bobbi Kristina, 22, was first hospitalized on Jan. 31 after being discovered unconscious in the bathtub in her Roswell, Georgia, home. In February, doctors attempted to remove Bobbi Kristina from her medically induced coma, but put her back into the comatose state after she experienced violent seizures
