Terrified residents of Kathmandu scrambled for safety outdoors after another major earthquake hit Nepal, less than three weeks after more than 8,000 people were killed when a devastating tremor struck on April 25, Reuters reports.
Today’s earthquake, which hit at 12.35pm local time, measured 7.3 on the Richter scale. Its epicentre was 76km (47 miles) east of Kathmandu in a remote area close to the Chinese border near Mount Everest, according to the US Geological Survey.
It was less than the 7.8 quake which hit in April 25th. Witnesses in Nepal already jittery. Capital described building swaying and frightened residents running helter-skelter.
