Ex-President Jonathan Won’t Be Spared If Found Guilty Of Corruption – Presidency

In the current war against corruption, President Muhammadu Buhari will not spare anyone who has a case to answer, even his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan would be prosecuted if proven corrupt, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adeshina said.

Speaking to Premium Times on Thursday, January 21 in Abuja, Mr Adeshina averred that President Buhari would not shield any corrupt person including ex-President Jonathan; if found guilty, he will be made to face justice.
“There is no accord,” he said, “if the corruption fight needs to get there (making Mr. Jonathan face justice), it will get there.”
Mr Adeshina also noted that the president did not sign any agreement with Mr Jonathan that the former president would not be prosecuted.
“There is no accord that if corruption is proven, it will not be tried. With this president, nobody will be protected. And I underscore it, if it needs to get anywhere, it will get there.”
Several top officials who served under Mr. Jonathan, as well as his political associates in the then ruling People’s Democratic Party, are currently being tried, or investigated by the Economic and Financial crimes Commission, for corruption.
