President Jonathan Opens Up On What Killed His Sister

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday said his sister, Nancy Oleic- Jonathan died of a heart related ailment.

Mrs. Oleic-Jonathan died on Jan. 4 at the age of 52.

Mr. Jonathan and his wife, Patience, made the remarks when they led other members of the family to a funeral service in honour of the deceased at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Otuoke, Bayelsa.

“Nancy’s ailment started during my tenure as the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa.

“She was my younger sister from another mother and had undergone several treatments both locally and abroad.

“We thank God she was able to live above the golden age of 50,” Mr. Jonathan said.

Until her death, Mrs Oleic-Jonathan was a member of staff of Ogbia Central Medical Centre, Otuoke.

She was married and blessed with six children.

A biography published by the family described Mrs. Oleic-Jonathan as a hard working and a devout Christian, who never took the things of the Lord for granted.

She was also described as a great weaver, greatly endowed with craftsmanship.

“In her days, priority in education was given to male children and being a child from a polygamous family, she did not have the opportunity to acquire higher education.

According to the biography read by Mr Lamawal Jonathan, the deceased excelled greatly in craftsmanship which was her hobby.

Earlier in his sermon, the Bishop of Ogbia Diocese, the Rt. Rev. J. A Oruwori, said death was an end that awaited every man.

He admonished Christians that they could overcome death through Christ and by remaining steadfast in trials and temptations.

Dignitaries at the service included Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa and his wife, Rachael.

Man Rapes 14-year-old Daughter, Blames Evil Spirit(Pictured)

60-year-old Isiaka Alade who was recently arrested for defiling his 14-year-old daughter, blamed the terrible act on evil spirit.

“I cannot remember what I did. An evil spirit always possesses me and as soon as I am done, I will regain my senses. Most especially, my daughter never resisted whenever I touch her. I am terribly sor­ry; it is the devil. I have even attended different deliverance services, hoping that God will save me. I am sorry but the truth is that I am possessed. No normal father will do such a thing to his daughter. My mistake was allowing her to live with me when I knew that I do not have a wife or woman friend.”

He was arrested by officers of the Lagos state Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, when a good samaritan who saw him in the act, alerted the police.

The abused teenager revealed to the police that, it was her father who dis-virgined her sometime in 2013. And that, her father bought different gifts for her as a way of wooing her.

Naira Now Goes For N208 To Dollar

The Nigerian national currency, the Naira, on Friday depreciated against the dollar, as it exchanged for N208 to the dollar.

The currency, which was devalued late last year by the Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN] from N155 to N168 to the dollar, slumped further to the N191.50 it sold for on Monday, January 19.

With the new rate, the naira has gone down by more than N16.50 within five days.

The CBN’s website, however, put the naira against the dollar at N167.50, while the pound sold for N253.20 and the euro at N193.89S

The development has resulted in huge speculative activities in the market, causing rippling effects on other currencies.

During the Monetary Policy Committee, MPC, meeting in Abuja last week, the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, said the monitoring of the activities of the market had revealed tendencies towards speculative attacks on the national currency.

Though he gave the assurance that the naira, since the devaluation, was appropriately priced, and therefore no need to worry about further devaluation, despite the continue fall in crude oil prices.

The governor warned against speculative activities in the market capable of attacking the value of the naira.

New Reports: D'banj Too Broke To Pay Staff Salaries

It's no longer rumor that the Koko Master is going through some financial challenges.

Despite being a multiple brand ambassador and investing in agriculture, new reports claims D'banj is too broke that, he can't afford to pay his staff and some are forced to quit.

A reliable source told Encomium magazine that;
“D’Banj and some of his workers are at loggerheads over unpaid salaries. Chu-Chu and Moses have already been withdrawn from his his management now. Things are no longer at ease for the Koko Master."

Last year, news filtered in that the artist might be sued for unpaid debt of over $240,000. A company MindHub Technology headed by one Henry Ojogho claimed he's still owing the company yet another N15million. 

MindHub had treathened to drag the Koko master to court this month, January if he failed to clear his debt.

Interestingly, D'banj has maintained a disturbing silence over his debt scandal. The much he had said was in a tweet; "Silence…Hear (sic) is my response to the false rumours."

His silence has given credence to speculations that he is going through financial stress. His visibility during the yuletide and releasing a single, has not changed this perception.

Gospel singer, Sammie Okposo who earlier insulted Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, saying he should be flogged for forging his result, has changed his tune.

Sammie Okposo Says Buhari Should Be Flogged For Forging His Certificate

After Gen. Buhari's WASC result was released by Government Secondary School, Kastina, the news went viral on the internet.

The result showed that, he obtained 5 credits in English, Hausa Language and others.

Now, popular Gospel artist, Sammie Okposo has come out to say the result was forged.

According to him, only Western regions offered a local language as a course in WASC, as at that time(1961).

Its True! Samsung Wants To Acquire Blackberry

Last went viral last week that Samsung was planning to acquire BlackBerry, in a deal worth $7.5 billion. Apparently, this was good news as BlackBerry stock rose with as much as 30% to close at $12.60, their highest level since 2012.

However, their stock came crashing back to 18%, when BlackBerry released an official statement to deny the reports.

Well, it turns out that the reports is true. Financial Post reports that despite the statement denying the rumors, the two companies are indeed in private take-over talks according to a reliable source.

A document obtained by the Financial Post, prepared for Samsung by New York-based independent investment bank Evercore Partners, outlines the case for, and the potential structure of a possible purchase of BlackBerry.

According to reports, the two companies were planning to break the news after and agreement is reached, until the news was leaked by Reuters. This caught Samsung off guard due to its informal nature and BlackBerry was forced to deny the claims.  Negotiation is still on going.

 “Samsung is still evaluating their options. So it’s still very much an open deal. Samsung hasn’t walked away” from an acquisition. “They’re leaning towards it.”

If acquisition goes through, Samsung will have access to BlackBerry portfolio of enterprise product and services patent.

Buhari's Certificate Is Forged - PDP Insist

Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organization(PDPPCO) have said the certificate and statement of result of  Gen. Muhammadu Buhari is not authentic. 

The Director of Media and Publicity of the organization, Femi Fani-Kayode said this, at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.

He said; “Our conclusion from all these is that the document purportedly released by the Government College (Pilot) Katsina, upon which the APC presidential candidate hopes to bury the doubt about his eligibility for next month’s election is forged, manipulated and fraudulently procured. It is therefore untenable in fact and in law.”

“We do not know who the authors and masterminds of this forgery are but whoever they are, we urge them to come forward and be identified. If they fail to come forward voluntarily, we hereby call on the police and other security agencies to seek them out, find them, arrest them, interrogate them and prosecute them, in accordance with the laws of the land.”

According to him, having carefully studied  the statement of result which was signed by the school principal and examination officer of the government college, Katsina, the organization believed that the result was far from genuine.

 “The result sheet which was attributed to the Cambridge examination body is clearly a super imposition of one document on another, as you will shortly see in the enlarged image of the result sheet as published. The column lines on the part where names are printed do not align with the blank columns while there is an introduction of extraneous lines on some other columns.”

 “The document contains an obvious alteration on the Mathematics column of the candidate, Mohamed Buhari, who was assumed to have scored an ‘F’ in the subject. This raises a very fundamental issue of validity in view of the fact that the accompanying result sheet states that ‘any alteration or erasure renders this statement of result invalid. This is the standard practice in all interpretation of documents, especially academic records. The question we put to Gen. Buhari and his party is whether this alteration was done by the University of Cambridge.”

Meanwhile, PUNCH Newspaper spoke with the principal of the school, Isyaku Bello who revealed that the certificate was indeed genuine.

He said;“If they are doubting the result, then they should come and see the authentic copy and not the photocopy sent to us by the Cambridge West Africa School. We are here waiting for anybody doubting what we have sent out. We are not running away. Let them come and found out.”

Who is he? What right does he have to speak? What effrontery? Enough already? Who does he think he is? As if we don’t know him? Look who is talking?… Blah blah blah” Guess what?

President Jonathan Mourns Late Saudi King

In a statement released on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, President Goodluck Jonathan joined other world leaders in commiserating with the people of Saudi Arabia on the death of their king, Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.

The statement reads; “I have received with great sadness, news of the death of His Highness, King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz at the grand age of 90. 

“On behalf of the government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to express my heartfelt condolences at the sad loss of this illustrious monarch and revered leader.  

 “Our thoughts go out to the people of Saudi Arabia and, particularly, the Saudi royal family at this time.

“King Abdullah will be remembered for entrenching the process of progressive reform, enduring stability and economic consolidation in Saudi Arabia, while preserving the Kingdom’s place as the universally acclaimed centre of the Islamic faith.

 “While the government and people of Nigeria share in your loss, we are hopeful that you and the entire people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would be comforted by the enduring legacy of selfless service that King Abdullah leaves behind.

Saudi King Dies At 90, Meet The New King

The King of Saudi Arabia, Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has died. The Royal officials announced he has been in the hospital on admission for weeks after suffering bouts of ill health.

Abdullah bin Abdulaziz was the fifth of his brothers to take the throne and become king in 2005.

King Abdullah, who was said to be aged about 90, had been suffering from a lung infection.

Following his demise, a statement early on Friday has been issued out saying his 79-year-old half brother, Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, had become king.

The official announcement from the Royal Court came as little surprise, but this is still a historic and sad moment for this deeply conservative Muslim country, home to the two holiest sites in Islam, at Mecca and Medina, and the world’s biggest oil exporter and producer.

As king he pushed through cautious reforms, including giving women a greater public role, against opposition from religious conservatives.

NHRC To Sanction Fayose Over Death Wish Advert

The National Human Rights Commission, yesterday, reviewed the controversial advert placed in PUNCH Newspaper by Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State with a verdict that the material amounted to “hate speech.”

Though the commission may not immediately arrest and prosecute Fayose because of the immunity he currently enjoys as a sitting governor, the rights commission might recommend him for appropriate sanctions once he leaves office.
This was revealed, at a stakeholders’ meeting yesterday.

Chairman of the NHRC, Professor Chidi Odinkalu, who addressed journalists at the forum, decried the death wish publication by the advertiser, saying it offended public decency and violated all known norms of decorum.

“Abusive, intemperate, slanderous or base language or insinuations or innuendos designed or likely to provoke violent reaction or emotions shall not be employed or used in political campaigns.”

He also stated that, the governor's advert was only in bad taste but it also violated section 95 of the Electoral Act and should be made to pay for that.

The APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari attended secondary school after all.

After his results were released yesterday, spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, Olajide Olaleye said they could not confirm if Buhari's claim of obtaining those results were verified by the Army in the 1960s.

The WASC results shows he graduated in 1961 with credits in, English Language, Geography, History, Health Science and Hausa.

“I attended Provincial Secondary School, Kaduna, now Government College, Kaduna, and sat the University of Cambridge/WASCE in 1961, the year we graduated, alongside (now the late) Shehu Musa Yar’Adua (Chief of General Staff under Gen Olusegun Obasanjo as Head of State) and Justice Umar Abdullahi, a former President of Court of Appeal. My examination number is 8202220,”

Funmi Iyanda Robbed At Her London Apartment

Veteran award-winning talk show host, Funmi Iyanda has been robbed.

The single mother of one, took to her Instagram to share the sad incident with her fans. She noted that, although she lost some of her valuables, as long as no life was lost, she's fine and life goes on.

Yes, I arrived London last night to find my flat burgled. Whole sliding door to patio and garden forced open. I am fine. Police been great. Material lost can be replaced or forgotten. That's all. Need to focus on writing my talk and sundry work. Smile Funmi," 

David Oyelowo, Oprah Winfrey, Cast Of "Selma" To Visit Nigeria

British actor of Nigeria descent, David Oyelowo and the cast of Oscar nominated film, "Selma" which includes Oprah Winfrey are reportedly planning to visit Nigeria, on invitation Pastor Paul Adefarasin of the House On The Rock Church in Lekki, Lagos.

24-year-old David Oyelowo, became the first black to play the role of King Henry VI in a major Shakespeare production.

He acted in "Selma" which tells the story of legendary, Martin Luther King Jr and he has been getting Oscar buzz since then, with different endorsement and magazine covers.

WhatsApp Is Now Officially On PC - See How To Use It

Following the detailed rumors, the messaging application has now announced a feature everyone has been waiting for. 

You can now access WhatsApp from your PC. This feature is available only for Android, Nokia s60, BlackBerry and Windows phone users(no iOS for now).

Geeks have already found workarounds to using WhatsApp on the PC most of which requires software like "Bluestacks" and "Andy".

The disadvantage of this was that, you could not use the same WhatsApp account simultaneously on phone and PC.

Here's how to go about it;

• Update to the latest version of WhatsApp on your phone.
• Using your browser (Google Chrome only) navigate to web.whatsapp.com. You should see a page with a big QR code on the side.
• Inside WhatsApp, open ‘Menu’ and look for ‘WhatsApp Web’. (Blackberry 10 users have to swipe from top)
• Point the screen to scan the QR code within WhatsApp. The rest is taken care of.
• (optional) Choose if you want to receive notifications for new messages via Chrome notifications. Dazall!

You can use WhatsApp Web anytime by navigating to
web.whatsapp.com on Chrome.
Follow the same steps to install WhatsApp on any number of PCs.

Bear in mind that requires that, your phone is always connected to the internet, for the web client to work. So you have a very limited data plan or no access to Wi-Fi, use this feature with caution.

Man Who Paid $150K To Look Like Kim K, Now Wants A Bigger BUTT

Jordan James Parke, the man who spent $150,000 on plastic surgeries and procedures to look like the reality TV star, says he's not yet satisfied with his looks. Aparrently, he wants Kim Kardashian's signature butt too.

"I love Kim's bum, her bum is amazing. I'd like to get a bum as big as hers, but i wont get implants," he said on a recent episode of UK's This Morning.

He continued;“I’ve been looking at body contouring, it’s quite big in America. I want to get liposuction on my stomach and back. I lost 70 pounds last year, I’m so lazy, I never exercise so I want to get lipo on my stomach and back and they put the fat back into your bum so you get two procedures in one and you get a big bum."

Though Parke previously said that he emulated his post-surgery look after Mrs. Kanye West after watching a few episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the 23-year-old makeup artists admits he doesn’t want to look exactly like Kardashian. (Maybe that explains why he kind of resembles Amber Rose instead.)

 

Charles Novia Is Not Happy With Rumors Surrounding Muna Ibiekwe's Death..See What He Wrote

After the death of Nollywood actor, Muna Ibiekwe, several reports have surfaced attributing his death to constant smoking and drinking.

Movie producer, director and social media critic, Charles Novia is not happy with the reports.
According to him, Muna is a good actor who kept his life private and should not be judged by his habits.

Hear him;  “What can one really say about Muna? I never knew much about him and perhaps many people did not as well. He seemed to live a life less glimpsed in personal details than that more appreciated on the television screens. He seemed to me to be a recluse…and there is nothing wrong with that. Many talented creatives all over the world are like that. But Muna’s case stands out because it seemed like our nosey and sensational entertainment press just could not get anything on him. There were few stories or scandals about him and more reviews about his body of work which is quite the hallmark of an artiste who exploits a mystique around him.

He kept his life private and perhaps, that privacy was as much a tragic flaw as it was a commendable decision, depending on how one views it. He shunned selfies and self-serving instagram posts about material acquisitions. He could well have lied, as most of his colleagues do about his material wealth, just to ‘belong’. But he kept it real. He did. I respect that.”

And then, he addressed the viral reports;  “I have read some reports on his death online and while the veracity of such is yet to be final on my part, there were tales of his battle with Kidney Disease for a few years and his weekly Dialysis treatments which he hid from the public all these years and known only to his close family. It was reported that he shunned all entreaties by those in the know to raise funds for him through a public appeal and preferred to plan a stage show which would have helped him out of the medical financial demands. If that was indeed true, it was quite unfortunate. Because I believe there would be few souls who would not have donated to a Save Muna fund, if only to help in giving the actor a second lease of life.

"Other reports say that he was a heavy drinker of hard liquor and smoked a lot and there were assertions that these must have caused his health issues. There’s nothing much to say about that. Artistes generally imbibe in habits which act as a counterbalance to the demands of their jobs. How a man smokes and drinks should not be anyone’s worries. It is the self-moderation switch in the artiste which should be scrutinized when such happens rather than what he does in his leisure.

 There was no doubt that Muna was a great actor. But he came across, to me, as one who had more of a brooding disposition all the time off camera than one with a happy mien. He was more of a mystery as a soft-spoken actor with a scowl and while that attribute in a better clime would have added to his personal brand power, over here it (that mystery about him) alienated him somehow from the fawning fans.

 I find it personally distasteful that someone, and someone perhaps consumed by grief or tactlessness, could release the pictures of his last dying moments online. To prove what point? That he was really dead? That he indeed was in a coma before he died?

 It was the most dishonourable thing to his memory to show him sprawled on a car seat, unconscious. In these days of social media, where pictures never disappear, those final pictures are what would be used to remember him more than others.

Muna was a damn good actor, really! And I do not think his death is a closing of the final curtains of his act.
