Chibok girls still alive, says Federal Govt

''Oba Of Lagos Didn’t Threaten Igbos'' - IGP

Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba has reacted to Oba Rilwan Akiolu’s controversial threat to Igbos.

While briefing journalists on Tuesday, the IGP said the royal father did not threaten Igbos resident in Lagos State.
He said the royal father has denied the allegations.

According to Leadership.ng, he said “On the issue of Oba of Lagos making a statement about who the electorate should vote for in the governorship election, I must tell you I saw it in the media and I tried all my best to verify whether that statement was made and, so far, what I have been able to gather is the fact that the Oba himself denied it, and if the Oba denied it, who am I to say that he did make it.

However, if for any reason that becomes a subject of further efforts to confirm if he did it or not, we will do it,” he said.

Obasanjo and Buhari held a secret meeting in Lagos yesterday(See Photos)

A private meeting was held without the presence of any external person(s), between former President, Olusegun Obasanjo and President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, in Lagos.

The ex-Generals reportedly met at the Presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport for almost an hour. This happened when the APC  leaders came to Lagos to campaign for the party’s governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode.

The meeting was held shortly before heading out to campaign in the Orile area of the state.

A member of Buhari’s entourage told Punch Newspapers that: “Gen. Buhari and former President Obasanjo were in the inner lounge of the presidential wing of the airport where they held a secret meeting for almost an hour.”
“The National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, Governor Rotimi Amaechi, Senator Chris Ngige and many of us were made to stay at the main lounge throughout the meeting. We do not really know what was discussed but it must have been very sensitive.”

Forgive Oba Akiolu and move on, Buhari tells Igbo

The President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has urged the Ndigbo and other non-indigenes in Lagos State to forgive all that has been said against them and move on for the sake of peace.
Buhari said this during a rally in Lagos to address the comments made by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu.
He said, “I admire what your governor has done in terms of mobilising revenue to sustain Lagos development. I have a lot of respect for Governor Fashola for his hard work, commitment to the state and the country. There is no doubt that Lagos is a mini-Nigeria. We are all here and it has been mentioned by previous speakers that everybody (tribe) is adequately represented in Lagos.
“So, I assure you. If you vote for the continuity of APC in Lagos, you stand to gain more. It is in your interest that you vote for the APC.
“Please when you go home tell your neighbours, relatives and even the opposition to please bury the hatchet. Let them fall in line and vote the APC.
“When we were coming in our bus, Fashola told me how Lagos State had been spending to maintain the federal infrastructure here such as buildings, roads and other institutions. I had promised before that if I won the election and became the President, I would make Lagos my priority. Governor Fashola is already holding to me to that promise so I would like the incoming governor to listen carefully and make sure he makes me honour my undertaking.”
Akiolu has been under fire since Monday when he reportedly threatened the Ndigbo in Lagos to either vote for the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, or perish in the lagoon.
The PDP on Tuesday asked Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola to suspend Akiolu forthwith.
However, the President-elect described Lagos as home for all, adding that the time had come for Nigerians to look past ethnicity in the general interest of peace and unity.

‘Surrogacy is really scary for me, I don’t want one, I don’t want that to be my reality. It’s my last resort, surrogacy. As much as I hated being pregnant, and I complained every step of the way and joked that I didn’t want one, I really don’t want a surrogate.’
‘I wouldn’t dare ask anyone to do this for me. It freaks me out, what if they’re a lunatic, what if they run off with my baby? I can’t do it, I just can’t.’

Toke Makinwa airs her thoughts on Tribalism, calls Oba of Lagos’ Ignorant

Recent outburst by Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos has definitely got all Nigerians and Celebs riled up.

Toke Makinwa has taken to Instagram to air her view on Tribalism. According to the popular Vlogger and OAP, tribalism shouldn't come between us as Nigerians.
“There is so much to say on this topic, it is heartbreaking but real. Tribalism has been and is still been practised today.”
“Lagos is home for everyone, our generation knows better, too. Let’s not let this come in between us. The Oba’s statement was ignorant but do we really blame him? We all at some point in our lives have been on the receiving end of acts of tribalism. Let’s take out the tension and be real with one another. Our parents’ generation practised tribalism openly and they were not corrected.
“In some homes, befriending people from other tribes was frowned on, marrying from another tribe is still being frowned on today, tribalism even from people of the same tribe is real too. What we need is to educate and not instigate. I had Igbo friends growing up, I was the only Yoruba girl in the midst of Igbo girls. Did they make fun of me? Sometimes, but it wasn’t out of malice. We lived, we loved and we are still very close.
“I have had a friend’s mum tell me ‘haaa omo ondo ni e? Mi o mo ooo, a kin ba ondo sore, meaning ‘I’m from Ondo? She didn’t know…. If she had, she won’t let her daughter befriend me cos they don’t like Ondo people, Ondo and Ijebu don’t mix. I was shocked. She went ahead and said ‘You Ondo people are wicked’.
“My friend is from Ijebu ooooo, we are both Yoruba girls and that statement was made by her mum. We are still friends today and her mum got over it.
“Please educate people around you. Vote who you want, vote your conscience but please stop with the tribalism comments. Our beauty is in our diversity. It is a distraction, don’t fall for it. Let’s all live as one”.

A new bible has been created for Kanye West's fans, It replaces every mention of God's name with "Kanye"

Presidency silent on Patience Jonahan's whereabouts

Mrs. Patience Jonathan, has not been seen in public since President Goodluck Jonathan lost the March 28 presidential election to Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) of the All Progressives Congress.

In essence, she has remained unseen and unheard from… since that fateful Saturday when she and her husband voted at their polling unit in Otuoke, Bayelsa State.

Although, it is believed that she was present at the Presidential Villa on the day Jonathan conceded defeat to Muhammadu Buhari.

A former government official told Punch newspapers that: “After meeting the President in the new Banquet Hall located within the premised of his office, I also visited the First Lady inside the President’s residence before leaving. She was in high spirit when I met her.”

And that was the last time she was present in the villa and seen in public.

The First Lady also failed to attend the Good Friday service held inside the Aso Villa Chapel with the President neither was she seen at the Easter Sunday service in the same chapel.

A Presidency source told Punch that she had travelled to the United Kingdom during the week to attend to some domestic issues. The source said: “She is in UK. She may use the opportunity of the trip to visit her children.”

While she remains missing, in some quarters it is believed that she is greatly affected by the defeat of her husband at the polls and as such, finds it hard to show her face in the public domain.

Some others, however, believe that she isn’t convinced that President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, will not come after her and President Jonathan once he is sworn in as President, hence, she decided to abscond before the time approaches.

For now, it remains to be known the true whereabouts of Patience Jonathan.

The Royal Palace Releases Statement On The Oba’s Alleged Threats

The Royal Palace in Lagos has released a statement clarifying the Oba Akinolu’s speech to Igbo elders where he threatened them to vote his candidate, Ambode or die.
The statement which was released by Chief Lateef Aderibigbe Ajose, the Opeluwa of Lagos says,
Last Sunday, all honorary Eze Ndigbos in Lagos paid a courtesy call to HRM Oba Akinolu. At the meeting the visitors praised the Oba for his fatherly support for and cooperation with Igbos in. Lagos. They assured him of their continued good neighborliness with other tribes in Lagos and support everything that’ll further strengthen that harmony.
Oba Akiolu on his part acknowledged the enviable performance of Governor Fashola and his contribution to the growth of investments in Lagos. He gave the assurance that he is not disturbed or angry with South-East and South- South votes for President Jonathan as perceived by the Eze Ndigbos. The Obas thereafter called on the Igbos chiefs to show appreciation to Lagos State by supporting his candidate Mr. Ambode for continuity of excellence as they have earlier promised.
He assured them of his continued support‎ and assistance where needed and the meeting ended with the traditional breaking of kolas, alligator pepper, and bitter kola and pouring of liberation on the ground. It was within this context that that the tradition of Lagos with regard to the lagoon came up. It was noted that whoever works against the throne and the interest and peaceful co-existence of Lagos would end up in the lagoon as per tradition.
2. Oba Akiolu stated further that the Igbo people have not betrayed the throne. Lagos has also not betrayed the Igbo people. Lagos has done so much to make the Igbos comfortable and to prosper. For this, we expect reciprocal respect and understanding. The Oba of Lagos prays that the Lagoon and the throne will continue to bless and protect all those who reside and visit Lagos.
3. Oba Akiolu is the father of all irrespective of tribe, religion or political persuasion. In Lagos, we have an old traditional proverb that relates to the Lagoon. The Lagoon is unique to Lagos. The proverb stresses the need for unity and understanding when you do business in an environment and in this case when you live and do business in Lagos.
Oba Akiolu prays for peace for the land of Lagos and prosperity for all its inhabitants.

I don't go after politicians because I'm not a beggar - Cossy Ojiakor

Busty and controversial actress, Cossy Ojiakor in a recent interview with PUNCH reveals why she has not been seen campaigning for any politician like her colleagues in the movie industry.
See excerpts below:

Why did you stay away when other celebrities were campaigning for politicians?
I don’t go after politicians. I just want the best for myself and the community I live in. That’s all I want. Where I live, we the residents wrote a letter to an aspirant in our area, complaining about our drainage. And the head of our community said we should vote for him and that the man would fix the drainage for us. Now, we have voted for him and he has won, I hope we will see him again.
We are just hoping he would come and do the drainage for us because the roads are very bad, especially during the rainy season. I want development where I live. That is what affects me as an individual. We keep hoping these politicians would do something, but they have not lived up to that expectation. I don’t see myself running after such people.
But many of your colleagues were hobnobbing with these politicians. Many believe they are making money.
We all can’t be the same. If you are doing an advert for someone, obviously you have to be paid. It’s cool if you are invited. Just make your money, play your game and move on, because it’s all a game.
Does it mean you didn’t join them because nobody invited you?
I didn’t do any of that because my kind of person is quite different. I’m not a beggar and I’m a very independent-minded person. There is always an offer and there is always sharing of money and all that, but I don’t need it. They shared money, I saw it but I didn’t collect because it’s nothing to me.
I do things that affect me as a person and that affects the people in my community and those I care for. I just want development where I stay and people around me, and I don’t even mind spending my own money to make sure people are okay. I’m more concerned with my environment. There is nothing they can give to me that can make it right. So, what’s the essence? There is no need collecting money that is going to be beneficial to me alone. It’s not really affecting me as a person but people are suffering out there. I’m not happy with the government. If they don’t want to repair our road, maybe Governor Fashola should buy a speed boat for us to get to be able to get to our homes. I’m just tired of promises.

I am not a miracle worker, don’t expect miracles – Buhari tells Nigerians

Despite his claims of turning around the Nigerian economy for good when he assumes power n the 29th of May, President elect, Muhmmadu Buhari, has asked Nigerians not to expect him to perform miracles.

While speaking on the war against Boko Haram in a recent interview with BBC, Buhari, said the triumph against the sect members would not be immediately achieved once he gets into power but said with cooperation from Neighboring countries and the commitment of the military, the war would be won in a short time
“For five, six years, the Nigerian law enforcement agencies, including the military, couldn’t secure 14 Local Governments. How can I promise miracles when I come? But with the cooperation of our neighbors Cameroon, Chad, Niger and the international community, and the commitment we are going to get from the military, I think it will take us a much shorter time to deal with it,” he stated.

You’ll Die Within 7 Days If You Don’t Vote For Ambode – Oba Of Lagos Threatens Igbos

Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos, has sworn that Igbos in Lagos would perish if they fail to support and vote for Akinwunmi Ambode, gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos. The king, who claimed to be the owner of Lagos, made the statement at his palace while addressing Igbo leaders ahead of Saturday’s election.
“On Saturday, if anyone of you goes against Ambode who I picked, that is your end. If it doesn’t happen within seven days, just know that I am a bastard and it is not my father who gave birth to me,” he said. On Saturday, if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos state, the person is going to die inside this water.
“I’m not ready to beg you. Nobody knew how I picked Ambode. Jimi is my blood relation and I told him that he cannot be governor in Lagos for now. The future belongs to God. I am not begging anybody, but what you people cannot do in Onitsha, Aba or anywhere, don’t do it here.”

He however assured Ndigbos that the would prosper in Lagos if they gave Ambode their support at the polls.
“If you do what I want, Lagos will continue to be prosperous for you. If you go against my wish, you will perish in the water. I am for the progress, growth and development of Lagos. Ambode is highly cerebral, he’s a symbol and he is going to deliver the message which I, the Oba of Lagos, have said. And he will govern the state for another eight years. “He is going on a mission and God will give him the wisdom and knowledge to fulfill that mission. Almost a year ago, I declared that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos and it will not change.
