African leaders are happy that Jonathan was defeated – Obasanjo

According to former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, African leaders are happy over the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential elections.

Obasanjo made the disclosure to an audience at the United States Institute of Peace in Washington DC.

He stated that his investigation in a number of African countries suggested that they were happy with the result of the election.

Obasanjo said that some Nigerians described President Jonathan as a moving train who was stopped from collapsing the country.

“I have visited six countries since the election, they are as happy about the results. It is good not only for Nigeria, it is good for Africa and I believe it is good for the world.”

Obasanjo added that the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd) , “has moved Nigeria one very important step up in our democracy.”

Furthermore, Obasanjo quipped that countries like Togo, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Gabon were among countries with leaders reluctant to give up power for fear they might “land in prison or in the grave.”

Jenner’s ex-wife Kris, meanwhile, called Bruce her “hero” too — and she also got into a Twitter war-of-words with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, who pointed out that Kris was the only one of Bruce’s exes not to provide a statement to ABC News.

Bruce Jenner: I was born with body of a man and soul of a woman

Bruce Jenner, the former Olympic athlete and reality television star, has revealed he has struggled with gender identity since he was a child and that he has "lived a lie his whole life".

Ending months of speculation that he was transitioning into a woman, Jenner said "for all intents and purposes" he is female - becoming the most high-profile American to come out as transgender. 

The Kardashian patriarch declared that it would be his last interview as Bruce, and he would re-emerge as a woman.

"I have always been very confused with my gender identity since I was this big," admitted Jenner, lowering his hand to several feet above the ground.

While he asked to be addressed in the interview with male pronouns, speaking in front of millions of viewers, Jenner said: “My whole life has been getting me ready for this.

“I’d have been so mad at myself if I never explored that side of me,” he said, pulling down his long hair from its ponytail.

He revealed that at the age of eight he started dressing up in his mother and sister’s clothes: “At that time I didn’t know why I was just doing it, just that it felt good,” he said.

“I hate the term boy stuck in a girl’s body. I’m not stuck in anybody’s body... I’m me. My brain is much more female than it is male. That's what my soul is. Bruce lives a lie. She is not a lie."

Woman critically beaten by lover over claims of infidelity [PHOTOS]

An 18-year-old Malawian girl, Linda Phulani is currently in a critical condition after her lover, John Yasini mercilessly assaulted her over alleged infidelity.

According to reports, the victim who in January moved in with John without her parents’ consent was banned from visiting friends and family members.

After Linda moved into John’s house, he became abusive.  This however got to the peak on Thursday, April 16 when he brutally assaulted the victim because she went to a neighboring village to see some friends without his boyfriends permission.

According to John, he suspected that she was cheating on him and had gone out to see her lover.

It was gathered that upon Linda’s return, John beat her up mercilessly, using chains and rods, and even went further to drag her through a hot item before leaving her at the mercy of death. John later had a change of heart and reportedly took the victim to a local hospital.

The suspect was later arrested by the Malawian police, and he confessed to the crime, saying he heard rumours that his wife was cheating on him and for leaving the house without his consent on the day of the incident was an indication that the news about her promiscuous act was true. He however blamed his action on the devil.

“I am a good person and have never committed any crime in my life. I did not intend to harm my wife. It is the work of the devil. I wish her well. In fact, I was the one who took her to our Local hospital in our area.

Jonh is currently in police custody and will soon be charged for domestic violence and “unlawful wounding.”

Buhari relocates to "Safe House" ahead of May 29

The federal government has made Defence House available to President-Elect, Gen. Mohammadu Buhari, for him to use for his private and official engagements ahead of his official swearing in on May 29. This is another way of according some presidential respect to Buhari.

The House also called “Safe House” was built by the regime of the former Military president, Ibrahim Babangida for use of Nigerians with presidential status.

Vanguard reports that Buhari who has been operating from his Asokoro-Abuja private residence before and after the election moved into the place on Monday upon his return from Daura, Katsina State for the April 11 governorship and state assembly elections.

Buhari is expected to have the House as temporary residence until he finally moves into the Aso Rock presidential Villa after his swearing-in come May 29.

I squatted with a squatter- Comedian Bovi

Star comedian Bovi has revealed his journey to the top wasn't a bed of roses..During a recent interview on my  #MySuperStarStory ,he mentioned that upon moving to Lagos, he squatted with an uncle who himself was squatting with a colleague.

On an experience which moved him to tears,he spoke of a time when was billed to perform at a big comedy show in 2008, but upon getting to the venue he was told that he was not on the bill and he was not allowed to perform despite begging.

On how he achieved his level of success, he said the key was never giving up.

“One thing people fail to realise is that they canachieve fame from their passion. It doesn’t have to be entertainment. I was tenacious, I was steadfast, I was hopeful and I was focused and I think that is what they need.”

Osun to stop free feeding of schoolchildren in the state

The incumbent Governor of Osun state, Rauf Aregbesola has set up a committee of nine, to review its policy of free feeding of primary school pupils in the state.

Punch newspaper reports that the nine-member  committee which comprises permanent secretaries in the state and a level 17 officer, may also recommend that parents be made to pay a little levy for each  child in   school

A source in the government circles claimed that labour leaders in the state recommended the review of the free feeding policy alongside others to save money for payment of salaries of civil servants and to carry out developmental projects.

The Aregbesola government has for almost six months been unable to pay workers salaries, a development it blames on dwindling allocation from the Federal Government.

Deputy Governor Titi Laoye-Tomori had said last year that the “ school feeding meals cost government of the State of Osun N3.6bn annually.”

In December 2014, the All Progressives Congress in the state said the allocation accruing to the state had fallen from N3.8bn per month to N1.3bn.

Following agitations by civil servants over the non-payment of their salaries, Aregbesola   challenged labour leaders in the state to suggest how his administration could generate more funds to meet its obligations.

The labour leaders consequently came up with a report containing   recommendations for the review of the policies.

"Everybody Loves Raymond" Child Star Sawyer Sweeten Commits Suicide at Age 19

Everybody Loves Raymond star Sawyer Sweeten (pictured on the left in 2010, alongside his sister Madylin and twin brother Sullivan) is dead of an apparent suicide, People reports.

The 19-year-old actor starred on the hit TV show as Ray Romano's son for nine seasons, from 1996 to 2005. He is also credited with a guest appearance in an episode of Even Stevens in 2000.

Madylin wrote on Facebook shortly after the news broke, "At this time I would like to encourage everyone to reach out to the ones you love. Let them have no doubt of what they mean to you."

Truly sad…you never know what could be troubling someone.

Toyin Aimakhu no longer wants to be linked with Goodluck Jonathan

It was only a couple of months ago thatToyin Aimakhu was all over the place campaigning hard for outgoing PresidentGoodluck Jonathan & his party PDP on social media.

At the GEJ Meets 5000 Youth event which took place on March 1st, the actress kept referring to Jonathan as “Daddy” and also said she could die for PDP.

After his loss to Buhari at the March 28th presidential polls, she said on social media that she remains President Jonathan’s die hard supporter despite his defeat, but a few weeks later… she is now distancing herself from the incumbent and that statement.

In a brief interview with Encomium when asked about her statement saying she is an addicted GEJ-ite. She responded saying,

Please, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I don’t even know anything about it, at all.  What’s more important to me at the moment is my new movie, Iya Ibadan.  Every other thing I don’t know anything.

Dencia defends girl who claims Tonto Dikeh is owing her, says she's aware of the transaction

Yesterday, a luxury shopper by name Pearl Chuks boldly took to Instagram to slam and call out actress Tonto Dikeh because according to her, the actress bought goods worth N192K and and refused to pay. She even claimed that she was presented a bounced cheque. 

Tonto later replied and denied the allegations. According to her, she ordered the items after the girl convinced her that she's done business with Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and other top celebrities. So when she got the order, she realized they were fake and Pearl to come picked them up severally. 

Now, Whitenicious boss, Dencia has added her voice to the messy drama.
