Unto Boko Haram War: President Buhari Releases N4billion To Army

In a renewed commitment to put an end to BokonHaram, President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday revealed his approval of $21 to the Multinational Joint Task Force be released within the next one week.

The sum is the first installment from the pledge of $100m which Nigeria made to the MJTF.

Buhari disclosed this at the 25th AU summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. He chaired the Peace Security Council at the event.

He said he gave the directive based on the decision of the recent extraordinary summit of the Lake Chad Basin Commission and Benin that $30m should be immediately made available to the MNJTF which is saddled with the responsibility of fighting Boko Haram.

He said, “I am pleased to note that Cameroon, Chad and Niger are already showing this attribute by fighting alongside Nigeria under the umbrella of the MNJTF to defeat Boko Haram.

“In this regard, the member countries of the Lake Chad Basin Commission and Benin met recently where far-reaching decisions were taken to immediately put into operations the MNJTF.

“To this end, the summit approved the immediate provision of $30m for the task force.

“Consequently, out of the pledge of $100m which Nigeria made to the task force, I have directed that $21m be released within the next one week.”

He was ccompanied to the event by   the Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun; Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom and a former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, among others.

The President is expected back in the country on Tuesday.

Aisha Buhari Warns Her Husband’s Aides To Stay Off Corruption, Says Jonathan Was A Good Man

 The first lady of Nigeria, Mrs Aisha Buhari has warned her husband’s aides saying they should try and support him to fight corruption and not use their positions to curry favours, but to key into his agenda of fighting corruption and insecurity. She made this statement at a ‘‘thank you’ dinner she held for women and youths saying the immediate past president was not the bad person but the people that surrounded him. Below is what the first lady said at the dinner;

“So, the people that are going to be around General Buhari have to be very careful because this election ended peacefully. 

“We are praying and hoping that people around him should know that it took him 12 years to get to that position and they must know that they are coming to serve the masses, not General Buhari in person.  It is the people that are around him that will determine the political health of our state.

“There was nothing that people did not say about the past administration. It is not Jonathan that is not good, but the people around him.

“I will like to inform you that in the past regime, whether it is true or false, only God knows, some people were going round and parading themselves as PAs. If you wanted to see the First Lady, you will pay $30,000, $50,000 and if you are seeing the President, you will pay all that you have gathered in your lifetime, she said.

Nigerian first lady,  Aisha Buhari  has hosted some APC women to a dinner at the conference Center of the Presidential villa Abuja.

The dinner was organized by Mrs Buhari to show her appreciation to the women for working towards her husband’s victory in the general election.

Present at the dinner which held on Saturday night, were wife of the Vice President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, Wife of the Senate President Mrs Toyin Saraki, Wife of the Speaker of the House of Reps Hajia Gimbia Yakubu Dogara, wife of APC National Chairman, Mrs Odigie-Oyegun and ex Rivers state governor Rotimi Amaechi.

Gov. Aregbesola Says Osun Workers Will Be Paid Before June 30

Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State says he’ll pay workers in the state their salaries before the end of June.

Most workers in the south western state civil service are being owed seven months’ salaries.

Mr. Aregbesola declared this via a statement issued in Osogbo on Sunday by his media aide, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon.

The governor was however silent on whether he would pay the backlog or part of the salaries.

The statement read in part, “Before the end of June, workers would be paid their salaries.”

The governor stated that his great dream for the state has not gone dark.

He added, “The dream has not gone awry and it is a clear vision that Osun must be on its feet, self-reliant and be a reference point in Nigeria.

“The race to ensure development within the first term of Aregbesola was informed by the fear of what is happening now.

“Aregbesola wanted an Osun State that is self-reliant. That Osun State, almost two decades after its creation, could not boast of tax-paying companies speak volume about the magnitude of the works that awaited the Aregbesola administration.

First Lady, Aisha Buhari Broke Down In Tears During Meeting With Chibok Mothers (PHOTOS)

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday held a closed-door meeting with parents of two of the over 200 girls who Boko Haram militants abducted from Chibok, Borno state.

Aisha, wife of the president and Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of the vice-president, were also in attendance at the meeting.

While Addressing state house correspondents after the meeting, the wife of the Vice President  said the Aisha Buhari had been looking forward to meeting with them.

Hajia Aisha Buhari had, for many months, wanted to visit Chibok. She also wanted to meet with the mothers,” she said.

“Today, we have had the opportunity for the president and Hajia to show that they are our father and mother.

For that, we are glad. Today, we had an opportunity for them to meet face-to-face. We had two of the mothers who still have their daughters missing after a year.

“Hajia, being a mother, met with them, held them and they cried, everybody cried. What only a mother will do is to say wait, I want you to see your father and see what your father will do.

“We were all extremely overwhelmed that at this time when the president is so busy, he had time to meet with the women from Chibok.

Waje whose daughter is now 16, told Saturday Beats.

Based on the total package prepared by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, President Muhammadu Buhari ‘s annual salary and allowances stand at N14, 4 million.

Buhari’s Basic Salary is N 3,514,705 and Hardship allowance, according to the package is put at N 1,757,350:50 while Constituency Allowance is N 8,786,762:50 and Leave Allowance – N351, 470.

The President will also receive a 400 per cent increase in his salary amounting N14. 058 million, as gratuity after the successful completion of his tenure.

Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President will have a total annual earning of N12.1million.

He will receive an annual Basic Salary of N2, 064, 400; Hardship allowance- N1, 515, 786.25 and a Constituency Allowance of N7, 578, 931.25.

Osinbajo’s duty Tour Allowance stands at N 35 , 000 per night and an estacode of $900 per night.

He will also receive 10 per cent of his salary as Leave Allowance and 300 per cent as gratuity upon a successful completion of his tenure.

Why We Stopped Going To Church For Eight Years – P-Square

Music stars, Paul and Peter Okoye of P-Square fame have explained why they stopped going to church for the past eight years.

In a recent chat with Nigerian Camera, the “Busy Body” singers said whenever they attended church, there was too much attention on them instead of God.

“Each time we attend, other worshippers would not listen to the Pastor’s sermon again. All eyes will just be on us. Instead of praying, some people will even decide to be starring at us. We were not comfortable with that and thought we were distracting a lot of people from serving their God, so we said to ourselves that we should stop going” they said.

“All men are equal before God, so we don’t encourage people to abandon their primary purpose of being in church because of us,” they further said.
