Two-year-old girl dies of Ebola in Mali's first case

A two-year-old girl died of Ebola in Mali on Friday, in the first case of the disease in the Country.

The girl had traveled with her grandmother hundreds of kilometers by bus, from Guinea via Mali's capital to the western town of Kayes, where she was diagnosed on Thursday, after showing symptoms. Health workers were scrambling to trace hundreds of contacts, in a bid to prevent the disease from spreading.

Mali is the sixth West African nation to record a case of Ebola. Nigeria and Senegal have successfully contained outbreaks and has been declared free of the disease. Spain and the United States have had a few cases.
