Founder and general overseer of Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare turned 60 today, November 11. A thanksgiving service took place at his church in Ogba to celebrate his birthday, with several dignitaries in attendance.

Among those present are, Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, CAN president Ayo Oritsejafor, Nasir El Rufai and Oby Ezekwesili.

2015: CNN rejects political adverts from Nigeria

With the 2015 elections drawing close, several politicians are shocked the America International Cable channel, which is one of the favorites in Nigeria, has been turning down commercials with overt political messages.

It is estimated that Nigerian companies and various state governments spend billions of Naira every year, advertising in foreign media. CNN adverts are among the most expensive in the world. They charge up to N5 million for a 30 seconds spot at prime time. But many Nigerian companies and politicians value the prestige that comes with it, not minding the cost.

CNN has stated that they do not accept certain advertisements and that there's no discrimination against Nigeria politicians but don't just run commercials that are intended to campaign for votes.

Ashley Hogan- Gancarz, the account manager of CNN International said; "CNN International never accept political or religious advertising. This is due to Ofcom regulations. If you want to promote investment opportunities etc, that would be fine but nothing to do with politics or the 2015 election."

CNN rejection of 2015-related adverts is expected to benefit local media in Nigeria, as part of the advertising budget will now be spent locally.

Man punches 3-year-old stepdaughter to death for urinating on herself

20-year-old Kelsey Smith was arrested on charges of murder, after allegedly punching his little daughter to death, prosecutors in New York said.

Brooklyn district attorney, Ken Thompson said that the suspect has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the beating to death of his three-year-old stepdaughter, Jeida Torres.

"The defendant was a father figure to these helpless children, and instead of protecting and caring for them, he allegedly used his fists to beat to death an innocent little girl. Her five-year-old brother was also attacked. Now, he will be held accountable for these cowardly acts." Thompson said.

According to reports, the defendant called his wife, Kimberly Torres, who is the mother of Jeida and Andrew and allegedly told her that he had messed up by hitting Jeida because she soiled herself. When she got home, Jeida was not breathing. She was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Marriage wont affect my career - Blessing Okagbare

Nigeria fastest woman, Blessing Okagbare has said that marriage won't affect her career. 

Blessing, who got married over the weekend in Sapele, Delta state told Guardian Newspaper thus;

"Getting married won't in any way stop me from doing the usual things i do on track.

I have been looking forward to this moment and by the grace of God, we will celebrate it with everything."

"But one thing i want to assure my fans and all Nigerians is that, i will continue to work hard to put smiles on their faces as long as my body allows me to run and jump on track.

There's lot of work to be done and i have started training well ahead. I will return to the track soon after the wedding and i pray God to continue to guide me and my husband as we commence the journey of our married life."

Actress Shola Shobowala(toyin tomato) finally addressed drug peddling rumours

A few years ago, news about popular actress, Shola Shobowale allegedly caught in America trying to smuggle drugs went viral. The story claimed she was languishing in a foreign prison at the time.

After years of keeping mum, the actress in an interview with Yes International has cleared the air on the allegation.

The actress said, she has never been arrested and that she has been away in America because of her children who are schooling there.

"I don't give a damn. Nothing. They said they have killed me in America and at a time in Saudi Arabia. They even said that my hands were cut off in Saudi Arabia before they killed me. 

They said i begged the Saudi Arabian authorities that they should please spare my life that i was an actress in Nigeria, but they refused my plea and cut off my head."

"When i got back to Nigeria after the story, everyone that saw me ran away from me because they thought i was really a ghost. 

They asked me, "Shola, but they said they have killed you?" I told them that i don't believe in abracadabra. That it was magic that i used. I told them i commanded the head to come back, because i was coming to Nigeria and the head got fixed. 

I came from England again sometime for a meeting at the National Theatre and a colleague of mine saw me and marveled. She said, "Shola, but they said you are in Holloway prison in England and i said yes! That those people recognized me and gave me a break to come home so that when I'm done here in Nigeria, i will go back to the prison in UK. She said i wasn't serious. She told me she heard that somebody came to Holloway prison and saw me there and that that person even spoke to me; that all i could do was just cry. She said it was that lady who came to Nigeria and told them."

"If i carried Cocaine and got imprisoned in Holloway, there is no way the UK government would have kept me in England till now. I would have been deported. So, i have never carried Cocaine and i have never been imprisoned. 

So, all they have said or written about me is none of my business, because it doesn't bother me one bit.

The first 2years of my marriage was full of fights because of my ego - Adaeze Yobo

Adaeze Yobo, wife of Super Eagles Skipper, Joseph Yobo recently took to her instagram page to reveal steps she took to make her marriage work.

Adaeze disclosed that she had to let go of her ego so her marriage which produced a cute 4-year-old son to survive.

She posted a photo and advice to ladies.

"This reminded me so much of the first 2years of my marriage(when i had too much ego, it was all about me and what i deserve) I will always randomly have in mind that my husband should know "we gotta go out" I wld seat my ass down all the time and just get mad, i mean doesn't he know? I won't even tell him nonsense! It wasn't that i desperately wanted to go out cos most of the time, we did we had nothing to say to each other but my " I deserve mentality" my "after all, I'm the woman" "the queen" mentality, was my motivator factor.

"Just testing or calling my hubby to say "hey babe, there is this restaurant that makes the best prawns (his favs) let's casually go after your training was what i should have said but here is what i actually said for two years, "Joe(which is what i call him when i am mad) everybody went to that restaurant on that street and even last night this person's husband took her."

"Then he goes from 0-100 in like 2.2 secs and then my ego kicks in. (you don't want to know how fast i also went kuku) and no one ends up eating. I always said to the pple that i complain to, "How dare he? Just cos i want us to go out and have a nice dinner, don't i deserve it? Anyway, the moral of this long story is that when i changed from my " I deserve" mentality to "we deserve " slowly, the tables turned. Now he makes our date, plan calender for a month. I lost out on seeing that soft amazing person he is for the first 2years cos i was always ready to fire, after all he shd have read the manual before marriage." 

Military Chopper Crashes In Yola While On Surveillance

Nigerian military helicopter, on a training  mission crash landed 4 minutes after take-off at Yola International airport today at 0930hours, a statement by the Director Defence Information, Maj.Gen Chris Olukolade said.

He however noted that there was no casualty recorded, adding that all crew members have been recovered back to base.

He also said investigation is currently going on to unravel the circumstances that led to the incident.

The real reason why Pawpaw and I are seperated - Aki

The Nollywood stars, Osita Iheme (Pawpaw) and Chinedu Ikedieze (Aki) took the movie industry by storm with their closeness as many thought they were related.

However, since Aki got married, their relationship fell apart and they had to stop living together.

In a recent interview with Tribune, Aki explained;

"There was no clash between us. Then, the owner of the property wanted to use it, so we both had to vacate the the apartment. The truth must be told, we cannot live together forever. We are adults and someday we would get married. We are not same twins, i am from Abia and he is from Imo. It's just that we are good friends. It is not bad we go our separate ways, though we are not far from each other."

Recounting his marital bliss so far he said;

"It has been wonderful and interesting. I thank God for it. As i said earlier, it requires more of responsibility than when one was living the life of a bachelor. I really enjoy my marriage and i thank my understanding wife who takes care of the home while am away."

The Cable Network (CNN) got it all wrong last night while running a story on the death of Osama bin Laden.
In the report, CNN "accidentally" assassinated Obama.

The video producer had just one job but ended up killing the wrong man and sending social media into hysterics.

By the time CNN eventually corrected the mistake by changing "Obama" to "Bin Laden", the screengrabs has already gone viral.

Fresh Bomb Blast At Yobe, Many Students Feared Dead

Fresh bomb blast has Occured in Potiskum in Yobe state, this morning killing many students and leaving several others injured. 

According to reports, the bomb went off when students of Comprehensive Secondary School gathered for their morning assembly.

The suicide bomber is said to have been a student.

Just last week, a suicide bomber killed more than 20 members of the Shiite group in the state.

Internationally Renowned Motivational Speaker, Myles Monroe and Wife Dies In Plane Crash

Motivational speaker and the senior pastor of Bahamas Faith Ministries International Fellowship, Myles Monroe and wife, Ruth who served as co-pastor in the church have died in a plane crash.

The jet crashed Sunday near Freeport, a city on the Island of Grand Bahama, killing all nine people on board, authorities said.

The flight originated from Nassau, the capital, according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration which said it will investigate.

The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.

BUSTED: Man Arrested At Lagos Airport With Cocain Concealed In Women Shoes

Officials of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a passenger at the Lagos airport for allegedly concealing Cocaine in female shoes.

 

NDLEA said the suspect, known as Mama Solomon, who had checked in th luggage claimed he was a shoe dealer. However, during interrogation it was revealed that he only used the shoes as mode of concealing the Cocaine.  He had two bags containing female shoes and hand bags. The drugs was covered in the soles of the female shoes and he was immediately arrested.

The 27-year-old suspect claimed he was given the bags by his friend in Brazil to take to Nigeria.

"I live and work in Brazil. I was given the drug with a promise that i will be handsomely rewarded if i successfully deliver the bags in Nigeria. They also assured me that somebody will help me in collecting the bags at the airport in Nigeria.

Unfortunately, officers demanded to search my bags and in the process, the Cocain was found in my bag.
