FG declares Thursday, Friday, Monday December 24, 25, 28 public holidays

The Federal Government has declared December 24, 25 and 28 public holidays to celebrate Maulud Nabiy, Christmas Day and Boxing Day respectively. The Minister of the Interior, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Dambazau, made the declaration on Thursday in Abuja in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Bassey Akpanyung. 

Budget 2016: Buhari Presents N6.08trn To NASS

President Muhammadu Buhari has presented a total budget of N6.08 trillion for 2016, before a joint session of the National Assembly (both the Senate and the House of Representatives) today, December 22, 2015.

The National Assembly complex was locked down by presidential guards ahead of the presentation.

The President, who arrived the Chambers at 10.01am stated that the fuel pump price would for now remain at the present rate of N87 per litre for despite the oil glut.

President Buhari also said sorry to Nigerians for the pains currently faced following the continued fuel scarcity across the country.

The President said, “the current fuel scarcity with long queues at petrol stations all over the country causing social dislocation is very unfortunate. Government profoundly apologizes to Nigerians for this prolonged hardship and misery. It is as a result of market speculators and resistance to change by some stakeholders.

Government is working very hard to end these shortages and bring fuel to the pumps all over the country.

The President who disclosed that 30% of Nigeria’s annual budget will be committed to capital expenditure, however moved Capital Expenditure from N557 billion in 2015 to N1.8 trillion in the 2016 budget, adding that having reviewed the trends in the global oil industry, the government decided to set a benchmark price of $38 per barrel and a production estimate of 2.2 million barrels per day for 2016, with plans to focus on non-oil revenues by broadening our tax base and improving the effectiveness of our revenue collecting agencies.

He said, “the Budget was based on a benchmark oil price of $53 per barrel, oil production of 2.28 million barrels per day and an exchange rate of N190 to the US$.

“The projected revenue was N3.45 trillion, with an outlay of N4.49 trillion, implying a deficit of N1.04 trillion. Due largely to under-provisioning by the previous administration for fuel subsidy and the costs required to support the military operations in the North East, the Government had to obtain National Assembly’s approval for a supplementary budget of N575.5 billion. I take this opportunity to thank all members of the National Assembly for the prompt passage of that Bill.

Buhari who noted that government was aware of the harsh economic situation presently being faced by Nigerians, however blamed the situation on unbridled corruption and security challenges, adding, “We have demonstrated a strong will to fight corruption. I am sure you will agree that the sheer scale of corruption and impunity of the past explains in part, the economic challenges we now face. On these initiatives, and the many more to come, we shall not be deterred. We will pursue the recovery of everything that belongs to the people of Nigeria. No matter where it is hidden. No matter how long it will take.”

Fuel Scarcity: Nigerians Are Paying For Jonathan’s Sins – FG

The Federal Government has blamed the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration for the untold hardship Nigerians are experiencing due to current fuel scarcity in the country.

This disclosure was brought to light by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, while speaking to pressmen on Monday, December 21, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said, Nigerians who have been bearing the brunt of the current fuel scarcity are paying for the sins of the immediate past administration, adding that it was Jonathan’s administration’s failure to make adequate provision for fuel subsidy.

He explained that out of the N674billion supplementary budget presented to the National Assembly, N522 billion was for arrears of fuel subsidy, which was incurred by the last administration.

“One of the reasons for the fuel scarcity was the inability of the last government to make adequate provision for fuel subsidy.

“We do face some other logistic problems but majorly, we are paying for the sins of the last administration .”

‘What I will be telling Nigerians is that what we met on ground is such that we are paying for the sins of the last administration. I am being very serious. You remember that about two weeks ago, we had to go to the National Assembly for a supplementary budget of N674 billion.

“Of that figure, N522billion was for arrears of fuel subsidy which was incurred as far back as August last year.

“The solution is what you have seen us doing. The first thing we have done now is to make sure that unlike before when the marketers used to import the major percentage of the fuel. NNPC has been involved in importation, because some of the marketers had stopped importing for a couple of months.”

“If you see any fuel anywhere today, it is imported by the NNPC. We also inherited the vandalisation of the pipelines which has made it impossible for us to even transport the fuel. In tanks today we have 14 days reserve and off tank we have 10 days reserve.

“The issue is not non-availability of the product it is the distribution, because of pipelines that have been vandalised and the gridlock in Lagos. It takes about five days for anybody to take fuel with tanker in Lagos.

“As at two days ago this matter has been resolved. The Mosinmi pipeline has been secured and it has lead to the improvement in the distribution, “he said.

On Monday, December 21, 2015 Kim Kardashian threatened the internet when she launched her own version of Emoji known as “Kimoji.” Launching of Kim Kardashian’s “Kimoji” app caused Apple’s app store to shutdown due to high number of downloads.

The Kimoji app features over 250 customized emojis inspired by the reality star, from her infamous backside to her ugly cry.

“Apple, I’m so sorry I broke your App Store!!!” Kardashian tweeted. “I can’t believe so many people downloaded my KIMOJI app that it affected the entire app store!”

The mother of two has been promoting the $1.99 app on her Instagram page since its release. However, the app’s release caused the Apple’s app service to shutdown due to its high demand and heavy user traffic.

Women nabbed at airport with drugs shaped as dildos in their private parts

Two South American women have been arrested at an airport for smuggling drugs shaped as adult toys and hidden in their private parts.

The women from Santa Lucia, were arrested at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Guyana, for possession of cocaine shaped as Dildos and stuck in their private parts.

The suspects, 43-year old Andree Willy, who works as a nanny, and 38-year old Chermisa Wheeler, who is a Cosmetologist were charged to court where they pleaded guilty to drug trafficking.

According to a police report, the women were arrested as they attempted to board a flight back to St. Lucia with drugs carefully wrapped up in plastic and measuring up to eight inches long in their vaginas.

Wheeler and Willy were caught with 3 and 10 ounces of cocaine in their private parts respectively. The first suspect was handed 48 months in jail plus a fine of GYD $79,200 ($380), while the second suspect was sentenced to 50 months in jail with a fine of GYD $268,200 ($1,300).

I committed no crime in kneeling before God in church – Ooni of Ife replies critics

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (OjajaII) has replied those attacking him for kneeling in church to worship God.

The monarch said “no King on Earth is above God”.

He was responding to the negative comments, which trailed a picture showing him kneeling down during the installation thanksgiving held at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Ile Ife, on Sunday.

The picture, which had gone viral on internet, attracted diverse comments.

While many saw no wrong in the action of the newly installed monarch, some were of the view that the act desecrated the revered stool of Ooni.

But in a statement signed by the Director of Communication and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Ile-Ife, Moses Olafare, the Ooni said it was an unacceptable sacrilege to equate Ooni’risa or any other king to the Almighty God.

His words:“God is the creator of mankind and it is God that makes it possible forthe enthronement of any king.

Dieziani’s family denies former Minister is dead as anxiety over her health increases

There is anxiety over the health condition of former Minister of Petroleum Resources Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke as report cropped up Thursday that she was dead.

The news, which went viral on the social media late last night sent many friends and associates of the former minister panicking.

However, sources close to the family in an SMS sent out last night denied the rumour of her death.

It was earlier reported that the family had wanted to return her home to seek for spiritual help after the condition worsened.

Mrs. Alison-Madueke has been in the United Kingdom receiving treatment for cancer since May. In October she was arrested by agents of the National Crime Agency in the UK over an investigation for money laundering.

Buhari Splits NNPC Into Four Autonomous Companies

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the splitting of the Nigerian National Petroleum Commission, NNPC into four autonomous companies, ThisDay reports.

This disclosure was made known to pressmen by Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and the corporation’s group managing director, Ibe Kachikwu, on Thursday, December 17, at a town hall meeting in Abuja.

According to him, the next phase of the restructuring, as approved by the president, would see the state oil company broken into four different autonomous profit-oriented companies.

“Right now I have just received the president’s approval to embark on the final phase of the restructuring we are doing,”

“That restructuring effort will unbundle this company into four key components: the upstream company, the downstream company, midstream company which is the gas and power company and then of course, the refining group holding company.”

“All of them would operate independently with quasi-managing directors and remit profits and taxes to the coffers of the government,” he said.

He further explained that the effect of the restructuring would enable NNPC to focus on individuals who will lead as quasi-managing directors to run the entities with the aim of delivering profits for the organisation.

Rapper, Azealia Banks Arrested for Allegedly Biting Female Security Guard's Breast

The Harlem-bred rapper was arrested early Wednesday morning (Dec. 16) for allegedly biting a security guard’s breast at a New York.

According to E! News, the rapper was charged with assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. She apparently assaulted a female security guard outside of club Up&Down in the city’s Meatpacking District.

NYPD reports that the rapper “became verbally abusive and began to push the victim and bit victim on the breast causing swelling and redness.” As a result of her actions, Banks was escorted out of the venue at 12:46 a.m.

Here’s a breakdown of what a source reveals went down to cause the “Wallace” rhymer to bite security. After attending an event at Up&Down with an invited guest, Banks was turned away by security once she attempted to enter a private party downstairs. She was instructed that a stamp on her hand was necessary to enter. This seemed to infuriate Banks because the employees weren’t aware of who she was, but she got a stamp anyway and headed to the party.

Apparently vexed that no one recognized her “as a celebrity,” an altercation ensued and she spit in the owner’s face. While the security guard was escorting Banks out for her reportedly shocking behavior, that’s when things went from bad to worse. A pushing match ensued and the “Ice Princess” rapper chose to go for an attack on the guard’s boob.

Banks certainly has a history of being hot-headed. Just last month, she was being investigated for an incident that also involved a security guard at a club in Los Angeles. She was caught on camera striking security after an attempt was made to remove her from the club for unruly behavior.

OOPS! Transwoman thrown out of beauty pageant after saying she was born male [PHOTOS]

Transgender Jossy Yendall, 29, from Gateshead who was thrown out of the Miss Galaxy beauty pageant after telling the organisers she was born a male.

Jossy Yendall, 28, said that she had told organisers she was transgender when she applied for the Miss Galaxy 2016 pageant back in October, and even mentioned it in the first line of her online application.

After she was selected to take part in the grand final, Ms Yendall, from Gateshead, was told by organisers at the last minute that she was not eligible because she was born male.

‘Just before I went to pay my deposit to definitely, definitely secure my place, I said something along the lines of, “It’s great that you let a transgender female into the pageant, it’s going to open doors for people, it’s really going to make your organisation look good,”‘ Ms Yendall said.

‘I got an email back saying I was no longer eligible because on their rules it states that you have to be born female to be in this pageant.’

Ms Yendall, who said she first expressed the idea that she female when she was three years and began her gender transition more than a decade ago, called the decision ‘discrimination’.

‘I didn’t transition just to be transgender – I transitioned to be a woman,’ she said.
