Fayose Attacks Buhari In Another Advert

Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose is at it again.
He attacks Gen. Muhammadu  Buhari in a new advert dated today, January 21, saying he's too old to be President.

According to what is written there;

"Buhari is too old to be President at 72.Even APC Governor Raji Fashola admits the need for youthfulness in governance.

"Fashola had said, "When i took this job at the age of 44, i was counting the number of white hair on my head. Today at 52, i am counting the number of black hair on my head. You see, this job is a tough job, you need youthfulness to do this job."

"Nigeria does not need a 72 year old President!"

His earlier controversial advert about Gen. Buhari was denied by President Jonathan's campaign team, headed by Femi Fani Kayode in a statement released yesterday.

Buhari's WASC Result Finally Released, Checkout His Performance

Government College, formerly Provincial Secondary School, Katsina,has finally laid to rest the controversy surrounding the credentials of APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.

The Institution on Wednesday released Buhari's WASC result, indicating that he graduated in 1961.

The results confirm Buhari’s claim that he undertook the University of Cambridge West African School Certificate Examinations and obtained five credits in English Language, Geography, Hausa Language, History, and Health Science in the school in 1961. Premium Times report.

It was disclosed that the computer printout of the results was obtained from Cambridge University as well as a statement of result, signed by the current principal of Katsina College, dated January 21, 2015.

The results shows that Gen. Buhari, failed in Mathematics and Woodwork, and had a pass in Literature in English.

The examination centre number was 8280 while Buhari’s candidate number was 002.

It was gathered that statement of results is printed on the letter head paper of the Katsina State Ministry of Education, and it shows that the examination took place in 1961.

APC Launches 5 Fundraising Platforms For Buhari

APC on Tuesday, launched 5 for Nigerians to contribute to the funds for the presidential campaign of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and his running mate, Prof Yemi Osibanjo at the Lagos House, Marina.

According to the chairman of the fund-raising committee, Gov. Babatunde Fashola, this was created  as a result of Buhari's desire to have campaign fund-raising that would involve ordinary people and be transparent. 

He said; “This project will be different from the ones that we are accustomed to. And this is part of the change that our party wishes to bring. This has been designed to give everyone the opportunity to participate in effecting that change.”

“We have seen the enthusiasm of young people to participate in this election, especially those who will be voting for the first time. There will be five payment platforms and no amount will be too small. The first is through bank payment. And five banks have been saddled with that responsibility. What the banks will do is to provide dedicated teller and it will have APCGMBPYO 2015 on it.”

“The second is through e-transaction throughwww.apcgmbpyo.org. As you make this donation, there will be record and I will do my best to acknowledge you through text messages or possibly by letters.”

 “It is important to emphasise the intolerant disposition of the ruling party to the opposition by informing the public that our party’s domain name ─ www.apc.com.ng ─ which incidentally promotes the country, has been shut down by the Federal Government because they do not want us to use the internet to communicate.”

 “Regrettably but necessarily, we were compelled to register a new name which they will have little control over. And that iswww.apcgmbpyo.org. It will be the internet platform for this fund-raising and other activities,” Fashola added

 

 

Bird Flu Spreads To 5 More States Across Nigeria

The Federal Government says the recent outbreak of bird flu has spread to five more states, besides Kano and Lagos where the first cases were recorded.

The Avian Influenza Viral desease has now been recorded in Ogun, Delta, Plateau, Rivers and Delta states.

Minister of Agriculture, Akinwunmi Adeshina revealed this at at a press confrence in Abuja, on Wednesday, January 21.

According to the Minister, 15 commercial farms and 9 live birds market have been affected by the disease in the five states.

He said; “We are not in a state of any epidemic. Seven states have so far reported cases of the bird flu – Kano, Lagos, Ogun, Delta, Rivers, Edo and Plateau States. The most affected state has been Kano, where the initial case of the bird flu was found.”

“In all of these states, different levels of interventions, including depopulation, decontamination and quarantine are currently ongoing.” he said 103,445 birds have reportedly been exposed to the infection in Kano State, with 15,963 (15 per cent) mortality reported, while 31,195 and 3,347 (11%) mortality has been reported in Lagos State,”

Google Nigeria Launches Online News Portal To Keep Up With The Elections

Google Nigeria has just unveiled a new online portal via which voters and observers can catch up on the latest news relating to the 2015 General Elections.

The portal, which is accessible via web or mobile, will serve as a one-stop resource for all news, party and candidate profiles, INEC activity, videos and digital media relating to the elections, in the run up to the polls in February.

Eligible voters are also encouraged to pledge their votes ahead of election day, using a social sharing feature on the portal to publicize their intent, and also encourage two other people to do same.

It’s not just for eligible voters. Candidates vying for posts can also better articulate their manifestos and agenda to the voting public using interactive features on the portal.

The concept for an election hub is not the first by Google in Africa. First conceived in 2007, it has undergone over 40 iterations in other African countries.

I have been queried a lot about my faith these days. Do I believe in God? Do I believe in Jesus? Do I pray and to who or what? I guess for many, they probably cannot wrap their minds around my spirituality. Am sure some people even think say I be native doctor as na only me dey take siesta inside coffin when I never die. No vex, na my life and I dey rock-am anyhow, no homo. Some people dey form good Christians because dem wan go heaven, me I just dey denge dey pose because am living my own small heaven right here on this earth for this Nigeria. I no wan wait till I die. Even some of my Muslim brothers wey wan fast track dem own dey even do suicide  bombing. Na only Naija Christains wey dey fear death yet dem all wan go heaven. Haba.

Most  Nigerians who have heavily invested in their Christianity believe that the concept of any other faith should be considered false. So how do I start to speak to narrow-minded Christians to understand that Buddhism is a wholesome practice for everyone, even the Christians themselves?
Take some time out and research, go to google, you will for sure see so many books on the topic, where Buddhism and Christianity agree in philosophy; in fact, with some of the key factors of most world religions. Also, the best of the Bible and Buddhism both converge on the areas of ethics, kindness, giving, and love.

Too many practitioners of all faiths focus on the rewards at the end of our journey, when the rewards and purpose are the journey itself according to the teaching of Buddha.

While I may not be a religious person, I believe in Jesus/Christianity, I do not deny it.  While I do not believe in the afterlife as Christians do, if those who follow it embody the qualities of Jesus in the here and now, then I embrace their practice as successful and good. While Buddhism is a faith of self-realization in the practice of here and now. Christianity is a practice for the afterlife of God’s revelation.

No matter how my Naija Christian brothers dey see God, my own way different. I see our Creator as one that does not interfere with the world in which we live, but only touches the heart of man to let him know He (God) is there. It is up to man to make his volitional choices using his free will, and making his own happiness.

The story of Job tells of the story of a faithful man who is beset by all sorts of misfortune, but he “chooses” to keep his faith. While Jesus performed miracles and taught His Gospel, He always presented His parables as tools/models for His followers to make their own choices towards happiness.

Buddha does the same as Jesus, but without the need to exclude the idea of other faiths. The Buddha said for us to always question, practice and see the truth by the fruits of our efforts. If a Christian can grow and develop his faith by adding the tools of the Buddha, then I see it as a damn good thing. I don find my direction to heaven, make you find ya own abegi.

If Truely I Hate The North, Will I Build 10 Universities For Them? - Pres. Jonathan

While speaking at PDP campaign rally in Sokoto on Monday, President Goodluck Jonathan denied neglecting the northern part of Nigeria, saying that people claiming that he dislikes the region are nothing but liars.

In defence of his love for the region, President Jonathan listed out the achiements of his administration both in agriculture and education.

“When I came on board as president, I established 14 new universities, four were built in the South while 10 were built in the North, yet they keep telling you I hate the North. If truly I hate the North and I do not want the children from the North to be like me, will I take such action?” 

“Federal Government has no business with basic primary education because they are functions of the state government, but I took it upon myself to build Almajiri schools here because we realised there is a higher percentage of children out of school in the North than in the South. So we intervened massively. Is that hating the North"

Speaking further, he said; “In the area of agriculture, tell me of any government that has supported the North with several agricultural equipment and with billions in cash loans. Is that hating the North? If I don’t like the North, will they benefit up to 70 per cent of agricultural reforms we are doing?”

“Those who say I do not like the North were also presidents in the past, but what did they do for the North? How many schools or universities did they build in the North and what did they do to ameliorate the problems in the agricultural sector?” 

Rivers Govt. Eliminates Chickens Infected By Flu

Rivers state government on Tuesday, said it had killed  killed hundreds of fowls infected by the Avian Flu in a privately owned farm in Port Harcourt. 

The commissioner for Agriculture, Emma Chinda said the farm had been quarantined and decontaminated.

He also said no human infection had been recorded. 

He said; We have taken necessary steps. Apart from quarantining the farm, we had to depopulate the birds in the farm to stop further spread”.

Thereafter, we decontaminated the farm. We are containing the situation because officials of government and experts are on ground monitoring the situation”

In a recent interview with Nigerian Tribune, the actress revealed that she holds no grudge against any journalist or media house and that her respect for the media is intact.

 ‘I don’t think you are right for saying I have any personal vendetta against the media. FG Seeks Clemency For 12 Nigerians On Death Row In Indonesia

The Federal Government on Monday, appealed to the Indonesia government to show clemency for 12 Nigerians convicted of drug crimes in the country.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, revealed this to newsmen, after a meeting with the acting Indonesia Ambassador, Eko Indiarto, who was invited for discussion.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN recently reported that, two Nigerians, Solomon Okafor and Daniels Enemuo were executed by firing squad for drug crimes, while 12 others are currently on death row.

“Every country determines for itself the kind of action it takes. In the case of Nigerians and as you have just seen, we have protested very vehemently the execution and we are still looking at other options.

“I have just appealed to the government and people of Indonesia to show some clemency as we move forward with regards to the 12 other Nigerians still on death row in that country"

“We hope at the end of the day, there will be some form of clemency for our people and we do not hope, as of now, that it will have any significant impact on our relationship.``

The Federal Government has said, it will continue to negotiate with the Indonesia government to reach an agreement on Prison Transfer.
According to it, the agreement may enable other convicted Nigerians, to return home and serve their jail terms.

The mother of two who recently returned to her acting career, took to her Facebook page to express her hurtful feelings and appreciated her fans for being supportive.

"It has taken almost four years to do this; its taken a lot of soul searching, prayer and counselling to get to this juncture. Its not a breaking news that my relationship of over a decade is over. While I do this with the highest respect for my kids, family members and friends.

Bird Flu Detected In Rivers State

Rivers state government has confirmed the discovery of Avian Influenza, also known as bird flu in the state.

The state Commissioner of Agriculture, Emma Chinda said the disease was confirmed after a thorough test was carried out on a bird which was showing signs last week.

He said this at a media briefing in Port Harcourt, and also revealed that the test on the bird was carried out by the National Vetinary Institute, Jos, Plateau state.

He said following the result, plans are being carried out to expand test on the poultry farm, to help check the spread of the disease.

According to him;“The government of Rivers State has taken measure to contain the presence of the disease from its present location and we have taken steps which include quarantine of the farm, depopulation of the remaining birds and decontamination of the premises in line with the best standard procedures”.

Jim Iyke, Tayo Faniran, Others Named Youth Ambassadors For INEC[Photos]

BBA Tayo Faniran, Mr Kool, Actors Jim Iyke, Gideon Okeke, Gbenro Ajibade and a few more others have been endorsed as ambassadors for the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

They were named INEC youth ambassadors at INEC Youth Summit, which held in Abuja today, January 19.

This is part of efforts by INEC, being put in place to ensure free and fair and violence-free election this year.

Terrible! Girl, 14, Raped By 60-year-old Man(Pictured)

A 60-year-old bricklayer, Segun Benson has been arrested to raping a 14-year-old primary six pupil, and damaging her private part.

The Incident occurred on Mommoh street in the Agege area of Lagos.

According to PUNCH, Benson has an aged mother and has never been married.

After raping the little girl, he was said to have sent her out despite the flow of blood from her private part. Residents sighted the girl in a public bathroom, writhing in pain. After bleeding for a while, she collapsed, and was rushed to the hospital. 

Narating her ordeal, the little girl said; "“I am in primary six. On Friday, he gave me N50 to buy sweet for myself. He then asked me to caress his private parts. When I told him I would tell my daddy, he said I should not go home.

“He took me to his house around Railway Line where he raped me. I was there from 3pm till around 7pm. I started bleeding from his house and when I got home the blood did not stop. But I kept it secret until Saturday when people saw it.”

Her mother, Taibat said she had never met the suspect before.

“I have seven kids and she is the third child. I was sleeping when people called me that my daughter had been raped. I have never met the man before though he lives on the street. The government should take over the case and do what is right,” 

The suspect's mother, Mrs Tinuke Benson who is in her nineties said; " Segun is my only child. I had four other children and they are all dead. He is the reason for my living. I don’t know why he did what he did.

“Each time I tried to get him a wife, he refused and told me he was old enough to look for a woman for himself. He said that many times without getting a wife. Please help me because he’s my hope.”

Police PRO, Kenneth Nwosu confirmed the arrest.
