Okonjo-Iweala, who also recently received an honorary degree from Yale, is number 48 on the list.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala:

She is credited with developing reform programs that helped improve governmental transparency and stabilizing the economy. Okonjo-Iweala is the first woman to be the finance minister and the foreign minister of the West African country with a GDP of $502 billion.

But the start of the year has been difficult for Nigeria. The country voted in former general Muhammadu Buhari as president, ousting long-time President Goodluck Jonathan, with the hope he will help fight against the local terrorist group Boko Haram.

Harvard- and M.I.T.-trained Okonjo-Iweala spent 21 years as a development economist at the World Bank.

Group Asks Court to Stop Buhari’s Swearing in over Certificate

A group, Advocacy for Societal Rights Advancement and Development Initiative,   has instituted a fresh suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to stop the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, from swearing in the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday.

The suit filed on Tuesday is also seeking an order nullifying the certificate of return issued to Buhari by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The plaintiff hinged the suit on the allegation that Buhari did not qualify to contest the presidential election on the grounds that he gave false information about his academic qualification to INEC.

Between January and February 2015 there were about 10 cases instituted by various plaintiffs

challenging Buhari’s eligibility to stand for the poll on the grounds of his academic qualification controversy. But after he won, the cases were withdrawn.

    According to
    PUNCH
, in the fresh suit filed by its lawyer, Mr. Philip Ekpo, the group alleged that Buhari did not meet the qualification enshrined in the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act to stand for the March 28, 2015 presidential election.

Buhari, INEC, the CJN are the 1st to the 3rd respondents in the suit respectively.

The plaintiff is seeking an order of interim injunction restraining the CJN “or any person acting in his capacity” from swearing in Buhari as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on May 29, 2015 or any other date thereof pending the determination of the motion on notice.

The plaintiff seeks among other orders:

“A declaration that the 3rd defendant be stopped from swearing in the 1st defendant as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as the issue of perjury involving the 1st defendant has not been resolved.
An order restraining the 3rd defendant or any person appointed for such purpose from swearing in the 1st defendant as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on May 29, 2015 or any future dates whatsoever for giving false information to the 2nd respondent on oath.
An order annulling the Certificate of Return given to the 1st defendant by the 2nd defendant.”
The grounds canvassed by the plaintiff read,

“The 1st respondent (Buhari) gave false information in the affidavit he presented to the 2nd respondent (INEC) and on the strength of which he contested and purportedly won the presidential election which was conducted by the 2nd respondent on March 28, 2015.
“The 1st respondent deposed to an affidavit dated November 24, 2014 that his West African School Leaving Certificate is in the custody of the Secretary to the Military Board.
The Nigerian Army on January 20, 2015, said that in the personal file of the 1st respondent with the Nigerian Army, they do not have the original copy of his West African School Leaving Certificate nor does the Nigerian Army have the Certified True Copy of his WASC results neither do they have a photocopy of the said result.
“The 1st respondent has not met the qualifications enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Electoral Act, Cap E6, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2010 (as amended) to have contested the position of President of Nigeria at the 2015 general elections.
“That the authority conferred by Section 140 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) on the 3rd respondent to administer oath of office to any person who will occupy the office of the President of Nigeria cannot be exercised in respect of the 1st respondent who has not fulfilled the requirements of the same constitution and the Electoral Act as it relates to his eligibility to occupy the office of President of Nigeria.”

Meek Mill Denies Nicki Minaj; Says He Didn't Give Her An Engagement Ring

Contrary to popular belief, wearing a huge diamond ring on your left hand doesn't always mean you're engaged.
In a new interview, Meek Mill denies that he and girlfriend Nicki Minaj are preparing to wed.
"[Our relationship] is definitely real, but it ain't really time to get married yet," he tells The Fader for its June/July cover story. "We're still learning each other, feeling each other out."
Minaj, 32, sparked engagement rumors in April when she posted a photo to Instagram of the massive rock Mill, 28, had given her.

Social media-savvy fans weren't the only ones they fooled, though. At Coachella, Drake brought Minaj on stage to say "congratulations and all that," and The Fader's profile describes an instance where rapper T.I.approaches Mill at a Beverly Hills restaurant to congratulate him on his engagement and then doesn't quite accept Mill's denial.

"You never asked her, 'Will you be my girlfriend?' but she is your girlfriend. You may not have asked her, 'Will you marry me?' But you are engaged," T.I. says before reportedly backing away, hands raised. "I've said my part. As long as you know what's going on."
Even Mill's grandmother thought he had proposed: "Whatever she sees on TV, she believes," he says.

Actor Osita Iheme(PawPaw) Reveals Why He's Still Single

The 32-year-old Nollywood actor Osita Iheme, popularly known as ‘Pawpaw’ has talked about why he is still single.

In an interview with Inside&About Magazine he talked about his personal life, career, Nollywood, ambition and legacy. Read excerpts from the interview below:
Your stage name “Paw-paw” brought you to limelight and you became a household name in the Nigerian entertainment industry. Looking backwards, did you foresee your good fortune today?
I have always been a very optimistic person. I may not have seen how far I could go but I knew something great was coming. I can’t really tell you this is how far or this is how I knew it was going to be, but like I said, I had always believed that something great was around the corner.
Growing up with your stature, did you ever feel bad whenever you moved with your age mates? No! No!! No!!! I have always seen myself as a leader especially when I am around my age mates. I have always put up a bold front because I am a bold person. I have been able to conquer and overcome the challenges that are around me irrespective of my nature and other things about my physical stature. I have been able to set aside anything that could bother me and moved on. I didn’t allow anything to really bother me while I was growing up.
It is a common thing in Nollywood for actors and actresses to be involved in acting, directing and singing. Are you part of this trend?
You cannot really stop anybody who wants to express himself or herself. People have diverse talents inside them. As they try out several things they are able to perchance discover their core competencies. So I don’t think it’s bad for anybody to diversify into some other things. Entertainment is vast, so anybody can do anything they want to do. I would quickly support such venture as long as they excel.
What is your opinion about Nollywood actors and actresses new interest in contesting for political offices; are you nursing any political ambition?
Definitely Yes! I am nursing a political ambition. I am hereby using this medium to let my colleagues know that we are the voice of the masses. People believe in us and it is high time we joined politics and start contributing and making changes. We can no longer keep watching from the sidelines. We have to be involved in the politics of this nation so that we can better the lot of the populace. We need to prove that we can change things. You cannot be a change agent if you are not involved in what is going on. So I support my colleagues; I support any entertainer who ventures into politics. I don’t think there is anything bad in it. It is a welcome development for us in the entertainment industry. I am also positive that my dream will come true someday.
Your stage “twin brother” Aki is married. How soon would we see you walking down the aisle with your better half?
By the special grace of God, God will bring the person around. I am yet to find anybody at the moment.
What would you like to leave behind as a legacy?
I would like to inspire people. I want people to take a cue from me and not give up on themselves. I want to see myself as someone people will walk up to and say “you made me do this, I did this because you did it”. I want to be a role model and a mentor.

What do you have to say to your millions of fans out there?
I promise to keep the flag of excellence flying. I will never disappoint you all. I will keep on bringing out more products for them to enjoy.

Pope Francis hasn't watched TV since 1990 and he’s never used the internet!

Pope Francis has claimed that he hasn't watched TV since 1990 after making a promise to the Virgin Mary.
The Pope said that he didn't even watch the matches of his football team San Lorenzo de Almagro back in Buenos Aires, but got a Swiss Guard to update him regularly on match results and league table positions.
In an interview with an Argentinian newspaper he said there was no particular reason for his vow- he simply decided: 'It's not for me.'
'I have not watched TV since 1990. It's a promise that I made the Virgin of Carmen on the night of 15 July 1990. I told myself: 'It's not for me'
The Pope said that he doesn't surf the internet either, and reads only one newspaper for ten minutes in the morning.
Francis who has kept up a whirlwind of work since his election two years ago has previously claimed that he has not had a holiday since 1994.
But he acknowledged in the interview that the workload was taking its toll.
'I am under pressure. All those in government are under pressure. At the moment I feel the workload. I have a strong pace of work at the moment – it's the end of the school year syndrome with the focus on getting everything done before the end of June. There are a thousand things to be done and there are problems. '

Don't Abort Boko Haram Children – Catholic Bishops Tell Raped Women

Nigerian Catholic bishops have advised the women impregnated by Boko Haram insurgents not to abort the pregnancies.

The issue has caused serious clashes in Nigerian society. Many insisted that the pregnancies should be aborted, saying that the unwanted children of terrorists “will bring no joy to this world”.
According to The Punch, the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria promised assistance to the women  in the children’s upbringing after the delivery.
Speaking on May 25, Monday, during the press conference in Abuja, Most Rev Anselm Umoren mentioned “support mechanisms” and “crisis pregnancy management centers” as means of providing support to the women victims.
He lamented that Nigeria even considered the option of getting rid of innocent children “with capital punishment” for no offence committed.
“Specifically, it is not tenable, the suggestion that killing the babies conceived through rape by the terrorists, is the most humane action to take in this instance. Since the babies are ignorant and innocent of the crimes – aggression, sexual assault, dehumanisation – against their mothers, it is unethical to punish them for the sins and offences of their erring fathers.”
The bishops explained that the life of every baby is different from those of its parents.
