Following calls by bank customers to extend the deadline for the Bank Verification Number (BVN) registration, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Nigeria Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS) have extended the deadline to October 31, 2015.
Customers had flooded banking halls as early as 6am yesterday so as to beat the deadline while they called for extension which was eventually obliged.
According to a statement issued by the director of banking supervision, Dipo Fatokun, the BVN registration has elicited tremendous interest from Nigerian banks’ customers who crowded the banking halls in order to beat the deadline.
