A woman named Ka Yang, who killed her 2-month old baby by putting her inside a microwave, has been found guilty by a court.
Prosecutors said the baby, named Mirabelle Thao-Lo, had been inside the microwave for between 3 and 5 minutes after she was found with burns and radiation marks on her internal organs.
Yang had initially claimed that she had lost consciousness while holding Mirabelle only to wake up to find her next to a space heater.
When that story didn’t fly, she changed and told investigators that she had an epileptic fit and had placed her daughter in the microwave as a result.
The presiding judge also ruled out Yang’s lawyer’s defense that she had Split Personality Disorder, and she now faces 26 years to life in prison for first-degree murder and assault on a child.
