The Senate President, David Mark has announced an immediate shutdown of the National Assembly after an attempt to stop the speaker of House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal from the assembly, plunged into chaos.
Police fired teargas, to push back a surging crowd Thursday as Mr. Tambuwal was denied access thrice before his loyalists smuggled him into the House of Representatives chamber later.
The House was in session at the time of the announcement, and it is yet unclear whether the Reps members will abide by the declaration.
