Another building collapses in Lagos, casualties unknown

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) says it was yet to determine the number of casualties in Tuesday building collapse in Lekki area of the state.
Mr Michael Akindele, the General Manager of the agency, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the scene of the incident.
NAN reports that the collapsed building was located at 37 Agungi/Ajiran Road, Osapa London, Lekki in Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
“As l speak, l cannot ascertain whether there is anybody trapped, dead or alive, until when we conclude the search and rescue mission.
“For now, we are still on rescue mission to ensure that there is no life under the debris.
“Until we get to the zero level before we can make any further pronouncement,’’ he said.

He, however, said that the agency would conduct investigation to determine the quality of materials used to construct the building.
At the scene of the rescue operation were Lagos State Fire Service, Nigerian Police, LASBCA, LASEMA, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps and Federal Road Safety Corps. (NAN)
